Information for Graduates or Practicing Teachers

For the practicing teacher, equivalency from their undergraduate work for any of the required courses will count toward the reading license, if taken within the past 10 years.   The graduate courses can be taken if the teacher does not have an equivalent course or the teacher may take an undergraduate course if he/she prefers.

The practicum must be completed in developmental level for the license (K-3 for early childhood; K-6 for early and middle childhood, middle school or junior high for adolescent).    The practicum can be completed in your own classroom; however, for the middle school or junior high for the early adolescent license it must be in a reading classroom.
