Three possible decisions: admitted, conditionally admitted, not admitted

Conditionally admitted students are permitted to enroll in one methods block, and must be fully admitted to progress further.

Two possible decisions:  admitted, deferred

Deferred students will not be permitted to begin methods courses.

Cut Scores:

Scores that previously resulted in conditional admission will now put a student into the deferred category

Remediation:  plan developed and monitored by DOE Admissions Committee – plan must be successfully completed in order to re-take the writing sample and/or interview

Remediation suggestions made by DOE Admissions Committee – student is responsible for remediation prior to re-taking writing sample and/or interview – no monitoring or follow-up by DOE Admissions Committee

Re-take:

Only two attempts allowed.  Second failing attempt results in permanent exclusion from IU East teacher education programs

Re-take:

A student may repeat the writing sample and/or interview a maximum of three times in each three year period, beginning with the first attempt.
