ALTERNATIVE ROUTES TO CERTIFICATION

APPLICATION PORTFOLIO COMPONENTS

 

Persons interested in ARC may contact the program Director for further details regarding application.

Application portfolios are to be complete by February 1, in the year you wish to begin ARC. If, after application portfolios have been reviewed, there are still openings in the program, applicants may be considered after the February deadline. It is in the applicant’s best interest to submit by February 1.


All applicants are required to have the following items included in their application portfolio:

1. LETTER OF APPLICATION – Letter should provide the admissions committee with a rationale for the applicant's desire to be admitted to the program and the profession.  The letter of application must be accompanied by a check for $50 to cover transcript review fees (if not previously remitted).

2. RECOMMENDATIONS (3) - three persons who know the candidate well should complete the required recommendation form provided on this site. Forms should be sent directly from the person making the recommendation to the program director.

3. PRAXIS I (PPST) SCORES – Applicants must have Pre Professional Skills Test Scores submitted to Indiana University East, Division of Education. Test scores must satisfy Indiana certification requirements

4. PRAXIS II SCORES (Secondary Program) – Applicants must pass, at state certification level, and have Praxis II scores submitted to Indiana University East, Division of Education.  Praxis II is required for Elementary prior to completing the program. 

5. OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT – Transcripts must be sent from college registrar’s office to the program director.

6. RESUME – Current resume

7. OTHER DOCUMENTATION – Applicants are encouraged to provide other materials in the admissions portfolio which evidence the applicant’s suitability for the teaching profession and experience with children.



INCOMPLETE APPLICATION PORTFOLIOS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED BY THE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE.
