Admission Decision Points

ADMISSION DECISION POINTS – ALTERNATIVE ROUTES (ARC)

1. Admission Portfolio – Must contain all required elements

Applicant portfolios will be scored as Preliminary Admit, Conditional Admit or Non Admit.

Applicants with Admission Portfolios scored as Preliminary Admit or Conditional Admit will proceed in the admission process.

Applicants who do not receive a sufficient score will be notified by mail that they will not be admitted.   These applicants may re-apply in subsequent ARC cohort years.

2. Admissions Interview with Program Director – Interviews are scored on a rubric.

Applicants with Preliminary Admit who successfully complete the interview will be notified of admissions and have 10 business days to inform the director of their intent to proceed with the program.

Applicants with Conditional Admit who successfully complete the interview will sign a Development Plan addressing any concerns or short comings identified in the admissions process to this point.   This could be as simple as completing current coursework or receipt of Praxis scores.   It could be determined that additional coursework is needed prior matriculation.   The admissions status will be maintained through the duration of the signed plan.   Applicants have 10 business days, from the completion of the requirements, to inform the director of their intent to proceed with the program.

If the Admissions Committee cannot definitively recommend admissions, after completion of the admissions portfolio and the interview process, the applicant may elect to avail themselves of a final review process. Applicants in this category will be notified by mail and must request the additional review within 10 business days of the date printed on the letter.   Applicants should request this process through the program director.   These applicants will participate in a group interview and provide additional reference contact information. Reference   information should include former employers and undergraduate program contacts. A writing sample and the Teacher Perceiver may be requested in addition to the previously cited requirements. The Admission Committee decision at the completion of this elective process will be final.   Applicants will be notified by mail if they are not admitted.
