“First course for the master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
Extends concepts introduced in undergraduate teacher preparation. Topics
include conceptions and definitions of curriculum and instruction and
their impact on social contexts, learning theories, and schooling practices.
Elementary and secondary contexts are studied.”
P516 (3 cr.) Adolescent Development (Educational Psychology)
“Factors of growth and development in adolescents, including physical,
psychological, social, cognitive, and emotional, with particular reference
to relevance for the practitioner and potential for future research.
Examines contemporary issues, such as drug and alcohol abuse, sexuality,
vandalism, ethnic and cultural issues, and problems of handicapped youths.”
Course will additionally explore methodology for special needs students.

underlying the secondary school curriculum as well as an examination
of the subject areas, problems, trends, challenges for the future and
significant research in the field.”

“Supervised practice in a school or other approved agency. Includes
performance in such roles as curriculum development, program evaluation,

TECHNOLOGY
COMPONENT
Each intern will demonstrate technological competence through the submission
of a digital portfolio. Instructional seminars will be conducted throughout
the program.

Any course grade below a B will result in dismissal from the program.
