coats. Test tubes. Equations. These are all a part of the
world of natural science and mathematics. But there is much more. You
might be interested in these degree programs if you’re observant and detail
oriented, curious about the world around you and how things and people
work and interact.
Indiana University East students in the Natural Science and Mathematics Division enjoy:

Modern equipment and research facilities including UV-visible spectrophotometers,
a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GCMS), atomic absorption spectrometer, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), thermalcycler and recently acquired computer based laboratory sensors.
|
| • |
Many opportunities to pursue independent research projects in biology
and biotechnology, chemistry, physics and the environmental sciences,
frequently leading to publications and presentations.
|
| • |
Practical experience through service based learning and internships, with certification in laboratory science.
|
| • |
Personal attention from faculty including opportunities to experience working one-on-one with a faculty mentor.

Degrees
The Indiana University East associate of science degree is designed to permit
you to concentrate in a specific area of science or mathematics and corresponds
closely with bachelor degrees offered through the Division. The Bachelor
of Science in biology provides students with a background in biological
sciences for the purpose of preparing students for careers in biology,
medicine, pharmaceuticals and related fields. The degree is flexible enough
to prepare students for entry into professional schools or to begin a
variety of science careers. In the academic year of 2006-7, the Division
will begin offering an associate of science and bachelor of science degree
in biotechnology.
