Indiana University East

Student Learning Outcomes Assessment

Beginning in 1995, the faculty of Indiana University East instituted a comprehensive program to assess student learning across all academic programs. This program is focused on the student achievement of the seven Campus Learning Objectives first approved by the faculty back in the mid-1980’s. These objectives state the expectations that the faculty have for each student who completes an academic program at Indiana University East. Each year, faculty assess student progress and eventual success in achieving these seven objectives using a variety of formative and summative assessment approaches. Each spring, the faculty prepare reports for each academic program on the assessment results from the previous calendar year. These results are then compiled into one campus report that is released at the beginning of the fall semester.
