Chris Thompson
Chris Thompson is 18 years old, likes to play baseball and listens to Three Days Grace... your average college freshman. He knew in high school that he wanted to go to college but he didn't know where. So during his senior year at Winchester Community High School, he signed up to take classes for college credit through IU East to prepare him for whichever college he chose to attend after graduation.
"Taking college classes in high school helped me know what professors expected of me as a student," Thompson said.
Chris enrolled at IU East because it was close to home and the campus offered a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He talked to his friends who were currently enrolled at the Richmond campus and got a better understanding of the university before choosing to attend IU East. His friends reiterated to Chris that the professors get to know you on a personal level and connect with their students.
Chris met the new academic requirements to be accepted and his work ethic hasn't changed because in his first semester at IU East, he made the Dean's List. He's made lots of new friends in all of his classes and he is continuing to meet new people. Chris is developing a group of friends who share in the same career goals and whom many are in the same classes.
Amazingly, Chris also works 30 or more hours a week and is still able to make time for family and friends.
