Who is My Advisor?
Who your advisor is depends on many factors including the number of credit hours you've earned, your academic interests, and if you've chosen a degree program. The web environment available through OneStart gives students access to their own records in the IU system. If you click on the following link, it will take you directly to the OneStart login page. Find your Advisor online! Then scroll to the right of the "Student Services" tab and click on "My Advisors."
New and Continuing Students
If this is your first semester in college, you will be assigned an advisor in the Academic Advising Center, based on your academic interests. If you qualify to participate in the Student Support Services program, you will be assigned an advisor in that office.
Academic Advising Center advisors are available to work with students through their first 24 credit hours. If you have decided on a degree, we will help you select the foundation courses for that program.
If you are still exploring your options, you are considered a University Division student until you choose a program. Once you complete 24 credit hours, your advisor will help you select a degree program, and you will be assigned to a faculty advisor in that department.
Transfer Students
If you are transferring to IU East from another college, you will initially meet with an advisor in the Academic Advising Center. If you have completed more than 24 hours and have selected your academic program, you will be assigned to a faculty advisor in that area.
