Scholarships for Freshmen 2016-17

IU East offers numerous scholarship opportunities!

Admission-Based Scholarships

  • Require no separate application, and are automatically offered if you meet the specified academic criteria.
  • Admission Application Deadline: February 15th, 2017
    • Please note: deadlines for merit and other scholarships can be as early as Dec 1, so we recommend you apply for application in Fall 2016.

IU East Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships $16,000

Award $16,000 ($4,000 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students admitted by February 15th who are ranked first or second in their high school class may qualify for this scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Please note that recipients of this scholarship are ineligible for most competitive scholarships.

Academic Achievement Scholarships $12,000-14,000

Level One
Award $14,000 ($3,500 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students admitted by February 15th who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 and higher with a 1360 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 29 ACT score may be eligible for this scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
Level Two
Award $12,000 ($3,000 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students admitted by February 15th who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 and higher with a 1270 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 26 ACT score may be eligible for this scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Chancellor’s Scholarships $2,000-8,000

Level One
Award $8,000 ($2,000 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 with a minimum 1220 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 25 ACT, who are admitted by February 15th are eligible for this admission-based scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must enroll full time and maintain at least a 2.75 GPA.
Level Two
Award $6,000 ($1,500 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 with a minimum 1170 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 24 ACT, who are admitted by February 15th are eligible for this admission-based scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must enroll full time and maintain at least a 2.75 GPA.
Level Three
Award $4,000 ($1,000 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 with a minimum 1140 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 23 ACT, who are admitted by February 15th are eligible for this admission-based scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must enroll full time and maintain at least a 2.75 GPA.
Level Four
Award $2,000 ($500 annually for 4 years)
Criteria Students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 with a minimum 1080 SAT (Combination of Math and Evidence based Reading and Writing) or 21 ACT, who are admitted by February 15th are eligible for this admission-based scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must enroll full time and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Merit Scholarships

  • Require a separate application.
  • Awarded on a competitive basis.
  • Deadlines vary.

IU East Distinguished Scholars $24,000

Award $24,000 ($6,000 annually for 4 years)
Deadline December 1, admission and scholarship application
Criteria Students ranking in the top 10 percent of their high school class with exceptional SAT (Math and Critical Reading) or ACT scores are eligible to apply for this competitive scholarship. Emphasis will be placed on academic excellence, but extracurricular activities and community service will also be considered.
Responsibilities Distinguished Scholars will demonstrate a commitment to help promote IU East to future students through participation in new student recruitment and other campus activities. These scholars are also expected to apply and remain eligible for the Honors Program.
Renewal Requirements Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

This award amount includes any other admission-based award offers.

IU East Outstanding Scholars $16,000

Award $16,000 ($4,000 annually for 4 years)
Deadline February 1, admission and scholarship application
Criteria Students who meet the Academic Excellence Scholarship criteria are invited to apply for this competitive scholarship. Emphasis will be placed on well-rounded students, excelling not only in academics, but also in extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, and community service.
Responsibilities IU East Outstanding Scholars will demonstrate a commitment to help promote IU East to future students through participation in new student recruitment and other campus activities. These scholars are also expected to apply and remain eligible for the Honors Program.
Renewal Requirements Must attend full time and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Dean's Scholarships $2,000

Award $2,000 ($500 annually for 4 years)
Deadline March 1, admission
April 1, scholarship application
Criteria New to campus students who demonstrate exceptional potential for success in college through accomplishments and experiences other than past academic performance may be eligible for this scholarship. Selection will be based on an assessment of potential contribution to the campus. Special consideration will be given to incoming freshmen who will be the first in their family of origin (mother and father) to graduate from an accredited college (bachelor’s degree).
Renewal Requirements Must enroll full time and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Students who receive another admission-based scholarship will be ineligible to receive this scholarship.

IU East Commitment: A Promise to Twenty-first Century Scholars $4,000

Award $4,000 ($1,000 annually for 4 years)
Deadline May 1, admission
Criteria Students who participate in Indiana’s Twenty-first Century Scholars program and are admitted to IU East as freshmen for the fall semester directly after their high school graduation can supplement their state benefit with this scholarship.
Renewal Requirements Must attend full time and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Transfer Student Scholarships

Transfer scholarships are competitive and based on academic, service and leadership achievements and may require a separate application. They include:
