November is National Family Caregiver Month

National Family Caregivers Month, celebrated every November,

is a nationally recognized time set aside every year to thank, support,

educate and empower more than 54 million family caregivers

across the country currently providing

over $350 billion in "free" caregiving services.

• As Rosalynn Carter said, “There are 4 kinds of people in the world: Those who have been caregivers, those who currently are caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.” That pretty much includes all of us.
• Suzanne Mintz, founder and president of the National Family Caregiver Association said, “One of the most important attributes on being an advocate for your loved one is the willingness and the ability to SPEAK UP and keep your eye on the ultimate goal, protecting not only the health and safety of your loved one but for yourself as well.”
• SPEAK UP and let others know what challenges you face and the obstacles you encounter daily.
• SPEAK UP at a support group and share your frustrations and fears to other caregivers.
• For all of you who know a caregiver, SPEAK UP and let them know how appreciated they are.
