Volunteers will share their skills and talents to help the needs in their community and improve the lives of older adults and persons with disabilities. There are several programs at the Area 9 Agency that have opportunities for volunteering and are listed below:
This program provides nutritionally balanced meals, Monday through Friday, to
individuals at neighborhood meal sites and to homebound persons. Volunteers assist with meal service at a meal site and/or with meal delivery.
This program provides needed respite breaks for a primary caregiver, while providing companionship, support and a needed presence for a care recipient for approximately two (2) hours per week at the client’s home.
Volunteers run essential errands for those who are homebound and need a helping hand in obtaining items from the grocery store, pharmacy, etc.
Minor Home Repair
Volunteers perform minor repairs and installations, yard raking and snow removal that are too difficult or demanding for a frail homebound individual.
This program provides assistance to individuals with monthly bill paying and financial planning. Volunteers assist clients in sorting mail, organizing bills, balancing the checkbook, setting up a monthly budget, and check writing.
Area 9 Agency Office Receptionist
Volunteers assist agency staff by answering the phone, greeting people, and delivering internal mail.
Area 9 Office Assistant
Volunteers provide assistance to agency staff with copying, filing, preparing mailings, and general office work.
Volunteers provide assistance in conducting the annual Senior Games activities
through registration, officiating events, securing and collecting donated prizes.
