2008 Whitewater Valley Art Competition

The Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition dates back 28 years. Now, after more than a quarter of a century, entries number between 200- 250 and come from as many as 40 universities, art organizations, art centers and independent artists throughout the 300 mile radius around Richmond, Indiana.

This year's competition will be held on October 4 at 9:30 a.m. in Whitewater Hall.

Each year a juror (TBA) is selected based on their credentials, past experience, and reputation in the world of art. Former jurors have held positions such as art critics from The New York Times, directors of various metropolitan art museums, and art professors. The competition takes a unique twist from other competitions in that jurors openly critique in front of the entrants, thus making it a powerful learning experience.

Through the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition, artists have encountered opportunities to enhance their careers through networking resulting in exhibitions, commissions, and the sale of their works of art.

The reception for the competition winners will be held on November 5 at 7 p.m.
