Preparing for interviews... part two?

04/14/2010

I realize that having a part one to preparing for interviews should have a part two however... part two could be either getting the job or... not getting it. I have no idea what you should do right now if you haven't gotten the job except the first thing you should consider is going over your composure, resume (and don't forget to get resume paper!!), dressing for success, and rocking the interview. I had interview last week at Ameriprise Financial and I was called back and started work Monday. It was so exciting. I was nervous- I am feeling better but I am nervous still because it is a lot to take on all at once but however that is a good thing. I can see I am going to be very busy lady for the rest of this semester and the rest of the summer. Derrick started his job at DOT foods and he is loving it. Things seem to be working there kinks out I just hope things continue to go over well for the both of us. I know I always have Derrick to take there to take care of me but I need to prove myself to myself as well as to my family. I am beginning to love my new job but I can't quite say that just yet- I have only worked 2 (not even full) days, however I am part time and who knows what will happen after this- hopefully all for the better. So far this experience has been very beneficial and I have learned a lot however I need to prove myself beneficial to the company as well... not just to myself no matter how great I may think I am no one else it going to think so until I prove it. You can rock your resume and rock your interview, but it isn't over yet. If you get the job you need to rock it too and it may be understandable that you are NEW, its your first day, your in training, etc., but you are expected to do your best. If you are still looking for a job head over to the internship fair. Honestly- it is the first place you should go- Derrick would not be employed at DOT and I would not have gotten the position at Ameriprise if it wasn't for Patty and the Internship program at IU East.
