My Tattoo (part 1)

11/08/2009

Finally, after many years of searching and debate I got a tattoo. I am no stranger to body modifications. I used to have a few piercings at one time. I have settled on a few ideas over the past 2years, but due to my pickyness of places to go locally and not wanting a place that just slaps them on, I have never found a tattoo place to call home. The one day I just started surfing the net for tattoos and tattoo parlors within a couple hours drive. I stumbled across Voluta Tattoo in Indianapolis online. They have this great philosophy and they didn't do walk-ins. Oh and of course what really grabbed my interest, is that also they do art outside of tattoos. I really liked that aspect about them.

Okay, now lets begin with the play by play story.

This is the concept pictures and Dina, my artist Drawing the Concept.

Your probably wondering why trees. Well I have a few reasons. Mainly I like the outdoors and nature. yes there is a bit of a tree-hugger inside as well. Plus, kinda depressing, but, trees don't hurt your feelings, nor complain, nor be mean, etc... They are peaceful and tranquil. Very relaxing for me.

And now it begins.

It didn't hurt much. Although my left side of my body was definitely more tender than my right. Funny how that works. Yes that is a smile on my face, see how happy and proud I was getting this done! long time coming! The other person in the mid photo is Laura, she is another artist at Voluta. She is really good at mesmerizing patterns! Maybe in the future I'll get her to do one.

After 2.5hours Phase 1 is complete!

There ya go. 60% final product. Feel free to stop me in the halls to get a closer look too I won't mind. Just know i am still healing and it isn't fully completed.

The next phase ,in 2 weeks, is the adding of the canopy, detail work, and some more color. It should be totally finished by the time we get back from fall break!

I might add a third phase as well. Which I actually thought of as I was being tattooed. Phase 3= Adding lightning bugs, done in ink that glows under UV light. So you can't see them unless you have special lights...

There ya go, my 1st tattoo, and for all of you to see!

Also thank you Katie, my good friend for going with and taking pictures! & of Course Dina and everyone at Voluta! Great experience!

Well I will see you one campus. Stay Classy Classmates I'll see ya on campus.

Enjoy
