IU East: You will have to put up with me for another year. :)

11/18/2010

The past few weeks have been incredibly ... boring? Haha! You thought I was going to say something else, didn't you? Although, Stephen, Alyssa and myself have been enjoying the elevator in Tom Raper Hall a little too much lately...

Elevator Police.

Alyssa is in charge of taking IU East students from floor to floor.

For starters, I bought a new car, so that is pretty cool. :) I am going to miss my Jeep though. I drive it occasionally for old time's sake. If you know of anyone who is interested in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee (nothing is wrong with it), let me know. I'll send you pictures and the information and what not.

Taking pictures when we should be studying. :)

Ever since Homecoming, things have slowed down dramatically. I almost do not know what to do with myself. I mean, I am still really busy, but nothing compared to a month ago. I am still in shock about being Homecoming Queen. I have had so many people come up and congratulate me. It's great that even after Homecoming, I still feel the support.

Lately, I have just been focusing on getting back into the swing of schoolwork. For a while, I was spreading myself too thin. Now it is back to homework and exams. I feel like I can finally give it my all. Honestly, I think that next year I will take it easy on the student activities. I'm going to try to limit myself to a few.

Speaking of next year, yeah, I was supposed to graduate in 2011. However, it is looking like that is going to change. There is no reason for me to be sad about it; if anything, I am somewhat excited. As many know, I am minoring in Psychology. Curiously, I approached Professor Felton this week and asked how many classes I would have to take to have a degree in Psychology. Surprisingly, I only need eight or nine more classes. :) Honestly, I feel it would be absolutely absurd for me to walk away from an opportunity like that. Also, I must admit, I was extremely depressed when I realized that I was no longer required to take Psychology courses for a minor. I love Psychology so much. It is going to be pretty awesome having two Indiana University degrees. I take a lot of pride in my Communication and Psychology studies, so these are two degrees I can be proud of. Hello class of 2012.

Furthermore, Psychology will help me later in life. If I work in advertising, Psychology will make me highly marketable. If I decide to, for some reason, pursue a career related to Psychology, Communication will definitely help me with that (especially the study of nonverbal behavior). I think this is a great mixture for me.

Lastly, I would like to mention Breakfast with the Deans (which was on Tuesday). This is an event where Student Government meets the Deans from IU East. It is a time for us to eat breakfast together and discuss SGA, school issues, etc. Honestly, I think the breakfast went extremely well. I'd like to thank all of the Deans for attending. The Deans pointed us in the right direction in terms of what we are doing successfully, what they feel we should do next, etc. I just want to say that SGA will have active social networking soon (meaning there will be an open line of communication for IU East students). I want people to feel comfortable with approaching us with their issues. Don't be afraid to tell us what is on your mind. I'm excited to hear what the students have to say. I'll keep you posted.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Break. We need it. :)
