The Rain in Spain Stays Mainly....When I'm There.

NO RAIN! BEAUTIFUL day in Spain walking on the beach...

Of course! It seemed like everywhere I traveled in April it rained! I have been behind on my blogs lately because I've been constantly revising for my upcoming finals. I took the first one today and take my last one on the 7th, then I come home the 8th! But before we even mention my countdown, (7 days!) I thought I'd show you some pictures from my wonderful trip to Asturias, Spain with one of my favorite (and only) Spaniards, Lucia.  I stayed at her family's flat for about 9 days and had the perfect relaxing vacation where I was fed some of the best home-cooked food I've ever had the opportunity to consume. One thing that's different about Spain is the way they time their meals. You wake up, eat breakfast, have a MASSIVE lunch at 2pm, or so, (note: siestas are sometimes necessary after, seriously) and then you eat a small dinner at 10pm and go to sleep. It was an adjustment but with the homemade Spanish food I was eating, I definitely didn't mind (cocido, arroz con vegetables, croquetas, pimientos rellenos, FRESHLY BAKED BREAD purchased every morning from a shop close to Lucia's flat). It was so nice to experience Asturian culture with Lucia and her family (who don't speak English). Her parents were more than hospitable and I loved every minute being there. Carmen, Lucia's mom, even gave me a cooking lesson. It was so cool! Since we couldn't really communicate she just pointed and showed me that the sound the food makes while cooking is important and an easy indicator to tell if it's done. Lucia and I spent most afternoons watching the entire Harry Potter movie series, Star Wars, Snooker, meeting up with her friends, visiting historical sites and having intense jam sessions where she'd play the guitar and we would sing some solid pop songs from the 2000s, as you do. Asturias was such an awesome experience to have and I am so thankful I have this to remember forever. Till next time-
