BLESSED

03/19/2012

I’ve spent the past semester or so gearing up for the summer. I’ve got such high hopes for this summer; I CAN’T WAIT. Let me take you back to December (2011)/January: I walked into Patty Crawford’s office and told her I wanted to start applying for internships for the summer. Now in order to do that, I needed a resume. So, I presented one to Patty Crawford which she ended up scribbling ALL OVER IT. She tore it to pieces, not literally, but she had her way with it. She gave me constructive criticism on how to make a more presentable resume and cover letter.

February comes around and I need to start applying for internships so I don’t miss deadlines. This is when I got really discouraged. I emailed my resume to 25+ people and 10+ organizations; some responded, most didn’t. It was hard to swallow, but I kept plugging along. And then, I received an email from the Colts asking me to come in and interview for a summer internship. It wasn’t just my resume and application that got me that interview (I have to admit). It was a lot of people who “champion my cause.”

Let me fast forward you to present day. I had my interview with the Colts last Monday and I will hear back from them on April 2nd…the day before my 21st birthday. So let me put it this way, I’m either going to have a very happy birthday or a very bad birthday. Cross your fingers for me!!

I can’t say this enough: “everything happens for a reason.” I changed my minor the day before classes started this semester. Because I changed my minor I have been VERY fortunate with my classes and professors. Those two things combined have given me the opportunity to meet new people, get a taste of the real world, and prepare for this summer.

What I wore for the interview

I’m blessed :)
