it’s about that time…
Spring Break is three weeks away and it’s still getting down to ten degrees at night… anyone else see something wrong with this?!
March seems as though it snuck up on us but I’m most certainly not complaining as I’m ready for the warmer months to be upon us. Speaking of Spring Break, I hear there are some interesting opportunities being offered to students here. The nursing department is taking some students to Chinle, Arizona and as I don’t have many details I did research that Chinle is a small community in the heart of the Navajo Reservation in Apache County. I look forward to hearing the details when they return.
As for my Spring Break I’ll be spending two days with SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) and two days in Indianapolis at IUPUI working on a university-wide committee. We have regional competitions with SIFE on Tuesday in Cincinnati in which we’ll present the projects that were completed throughout the year and then hopefully we’ll earn a chance to go to nationals. It should be a good time and a great chance to meet other students who are involved with their SIFE chapters. The university-wide committee that I’ll be serving on will send ten recommendations to the governor on who will serve as the next Student Trustee of IU. It’ll be a busy week but that’s one thing that I really love about IU East… it’s small enough that you get to be involved with a lot of different organizations on whatever levels you may choose. I don’t think going to a bigger school would have given me the opportunities that I’ve experienced here, and to me it’s those experiences that will benefit me most. To each his own I suppose!
Quickly I just want to congratulate our Men’s Basketball team for their successful season finishing 23-9 and 9-2 within our conference. It was a pleasure to watch them grow and as much as we would have liked to see them beat IU Southeast in the conference championship, there’s always next year. Wish I was going to be around to see that little rivalry flourish.
Also want to give a quick shoutout to a fellow senior Decoreo Edwards as he finished up his last season with the Red Wolves. It was nice to see the entire team working together this year and I look forward to following them as they progress in the years to come.
I’m off to do some homework but until next time, take care!
always, dns

Lately I’ve been thinking about the price of tuition. I U East is able to support a diverse group of people by keeping tuition prices low. However, if the school continues to spend money on extra activities, like sports, what will happen to the price of tuition. Common sense says the price of schooling will increase! This is unfair to people who rely on a lower cost for education
