About the Author
My name is Tom Avery and I am the Director of Distance Education here at Indiana University East. I have been working at IU East for a little over five years and was attracted to both the campus and the job because they both offered me a chance to be a part something exciting, growing, and dynamic. As you’ll probably be able to tell through my postings, I am passionate about the opportunities that distance education gives to both students and faculty alike. Where else can you be involved in a class with people in several states, and even in other countries, all while sitting at home in your pajamas?!?! I am also passionate about helping students to be successful on their educational journey so please don’t hesitate to ask me if you need anything.
A little about me personally. I live in Richmond with my wife and 3 year old son. We also got a schnauzer puppy at about the same time as we had our son so our family doubled nearly overnight! Life is great although a little busy. I enjoy working out, running, hiking, and biking; basically all things active. I also am a sports fan with some of my favorite sports being auto racing, MLB Baseball, and football. Reading is also a favorite activity of mine and I enjoy meeting authors and getting books signed.
