…………………………and that’s a wrap!

After five very long years I am officially done with my undergraduate degree. It doesn't feel real yet,  and it probably won't kick in until I  have walked across the stage and I am holding my diploma with my own two hands.

I never thought that I would see the end when I started college, and as I would pray that the semester would fly by and I could complete another year of college. Back then I would say how I wanted time to pass and things that like, and you always here people say "don't wish your time away" and it is true. Now that I am moving on to a different chapter in life it literally seems like a dream that I was sitting in freshman seminar waiting for the weekend so that I could go have fun with my friends. I don't think you realize how much time changes people. I have different priorities now and a new outlook on life.

College has taught me that I can do anything I want to if I put my mind too it.

College gave me the three most amazing best friends that I have ever had, I know that those three friendships will last a lifetime.

College gave me a chance to be someone who helps others.

College made me appreciate how important family is. And I must say that I never would have made it through without the support and sometimes tough love of my family.

College let me continue to participate in the sport I love for four years and make history as being Indiana University Easts first four year track athlete.

I could go on and on about how college has changed my life, but what I need  to say most is I owe Indiana University East a huge thank you. This place was like a home and the people are like  family. I have had the privilege of getting to know, meet and work with amazing people. I also have never set foot on a campus that was so willing to go the extra mile for any student who needed a hand. It is astonishing to see how much Indiana University has grown even since I was admitted and we were still the pioneers.

It has been an honor to be given the opportunity to write blogs for the university and work for the amazing Admissions staff. They deserve a special thank you for putting up with me and my crazy schedules all these years. The admissions staff really go above and beyond.

So in closing, I am sad to say that this will be the last blog that I write for Indiana University East and I am excited more than ever for the next chapter in my life. I wish every single one of you the best and want to end by saying......

The Final Stretch!!!!

Hola peeps!!

Today marks the start of the last week of classes!

If you are a senior like me you probably have found it harder and harder each week to continue to pay attention, especially if the sun is shining outside. That being said we need to stay focused and finish up this year with a bang! (I know it's hard lol)

I often find myself day dreaming of walking across the stage, accepting my diploma and going to celebrate later that night! Needless to say I absolutely can't wait, the feeling is almost surreal.

^^That brings me to this quote. As my fellow seniors and I get ready to take on the real world I believe we should take this in. With an education we have the opportunity to change the world, even in the smallest way. I think if you believe in something you should go after it whole heartily. And who knows, an IUE grad could be the next person to discover a cure or make a research discovery!

And I will leave you all with this. With a new beginning, starts a new life.

Have an amazing week!

Study hard for finals and finish strong!

A record breaking weekend!

So this may be a little late but recently the IUE red wolves had a track meet at Anderson University and it was literally a record breaking weekend!  -->http://www.iueredwolves.com/article/2131.php

This is my very last track season and I have to say that it has been the best one yet. Not only do I have a great team, I have personally exceeded my record in the disc (which I never thought would happen) and put myself 28th in the NAIA top 100. I am so proud that I have had the opportunity to even compete at the college level. let alone be one of the top competitors in the nation. Next weekend we head to our last meet of the year, Conference. I am nervous and excited but also sad at the same time. I want to wish all my teammates and the future red wolves the best of luck in the future. Lets keep building and unstoppable program.

In other news I found the perfect dress for graduation!!!!!!!! I didn't go with my signature color which would have been black, but instead with a really pretty coral. I think after receiving my dress and putting it on, it has started to set in that graduation is really happening and we are a little over 20 days away. CRAZYYYYYY!

ohhh and I just wanted to show you guys how handsome Ali is ;)

Capstone complete…35 days to go!!!

Holaaaa peeps! I hope you are having a great week.

I have officially finished my captsone. This means that I completed 110 hours of clinical and now every Tuesday I can sleep in till whatever time I want Lol. And believe me I will be taking advantage of this free time.

With 35 days left.........comes a lot of responsibility. Who knew that when you are about to graduate it would actually be hard to find a job, house, car??? This is something I never thought about while I was in the middle of school, because I was only focused on making it to the end. But now that I am at the end there is so much more too it than just walking across the stage!

So as much as I should be focusing on the important things (Car,house, job) I am a littler more focused on what color and type of dress I want to wear to graduation :D ....

Love This

So many options to choose from so little time to decide, and I haven't even begun to think about shoes!!!

In other news, the track team is off to a great start and there have turned out to be many talented individuals on both the boys and the girls teams! I am excited for our track meet at Anderson this weekend :)

Have a good weekend all.

44 days!!!

Well actually I think it is 43 now....but anyways, I hope each and every one of you had an amazing spring break! I spent the majority of mine sleeping and spending quality time with my family and friends. I also celebrated my 23rd birthday (I feel so old) but it was my best birthday yet :D . My friends really are the bomb!

This semester is definitely winding down. I just officially participated in my last nursing showcase ever.

And for the first time ever, we had all the nursing students together in one room. So that being said I would like to introduce to you the Indiana University East Nursing Students classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015!

If you are a senior we have to finish out these last couple of weeks strong and fight through the senioritis! That goes for the underclassmen too! We are SO close to the end :)

Spring….spri…..sp….STILL SNOWING?!!!??

When I saw the news this week and that they were calling for 4-8 inches of snow I wanted to cry :( . I am so beyond ready for spring, this snow has got to go!!!!!!!!! Not to mention we are one week away from spring break...spring break is suppose to be sunny and warm. Anyways, on to other things that are more important than me complaining about the snow.

I think this may be some of the realest advice I have ever read. I am trying to practice this on a daily basis.

We have 62 more days until graduation...how crazy is that????? I mean when we were back in the 100's it didn't really feel like graduation was ever going to get here but now that it is so close I am starting to get more and more excited....while also becoming more and more of a senior, which means senioritis. Senioritis is a real thing and it can drown you. At this point after spring break we will have five weeks left, and those five weeks are going to fly by. We gotta dot our I's and cross our T's, because we are way to close to the end to mess it up!

To add to the excitement I just completed my application for license  in Indiana and that feeling was surreal. My capstone is also winding down, I only have two more rotations to go. Each capstone rotation I have learned something new and the experience has really made me feel like I am going to be a nurse.

Kind of a bunch of scattered thoughts Lol? I apologize.

Have a good week peeps

Endless Possibilities

On Pinterest that is. Pinterest makes me feel like I could make anything. Recently I have been super obsessed with the home decor section. How amazing would it be to make my future home look exactly like these pictures or better??

We have a little under three weeks until spring break ahhhh :D . Graduation is getting closer and closer, which brings me to some information I am not sure most people know.If you are ordering a cap and gown you should order before March 27th, because if you order after that the gown price increased by $50.00. So just be aware of that. Here is the link to the page with all of the information regarding commencement ->>> http://www.iue.edu/commencement/

Cap and Gown--> ORDER NOW

It is crazy to think that after spring break there is a little over 5 weeks left of this semester. It really is going by fast. I am hoping with spring break fast approaching that the weather will take a turn in the right direction and start to warm up! If there is one thing I dislike about being a track athlete it is most definitely the weather. No matter how many extra layers you wear sometimes it is just too cold to be outside Lol. Other than that I am very excited for our first track meet on March 16th at Wabash University. We as a team have all been working very hard this off season, and there are some fresh faces. I am excited to see how everyone does.

I need to get back to doing something productive ;)

Have a good week peeps

Some things fall apart..

So other things can fall together.

This week was harder than normal, a situation that I was in was going well and then all of a sudden it took a turn for the worst. But that very same day an Army Recruiter called me and we talked about my future with them. It was exciting and made me even more focused on the things that are important right now. School, getting into shape and squaring things away to take the NCLEX. I feel that I am more focused than ever, and can't wait to continue the recruiting process.

It also so happened to be Valentines day! My valentines may have been the best one I have had yet. I was able to spend all night with the people who are closest to me, we talked, laughed and just had a good time. Valentines day can be saddening for some people, but it could also show you how many blessings you have. Valentines day is a day to appreciate the love you have in life, and that can come from many different places!

In other news, it seems that I have 3 papers to write within the next 2-3 weeks. I absolutely can't stand writing papers, because well...writing is not my forte. Which makes me laugh because I will be getting my masters degree eventually and masters degrees are filled with paper writing -__-. But the whole point of telling you about my papers is that I have been procrastinating by spending valuable time on pinterest. Lol so I wanted to share a couple of pictures that I came across!

Have a good weekend peeps!

Puppies make the world a better place.

Mika

The new addition to the Ervin family. This is Mika, she is a 10 week old Doberman!!!!! I knew that my mom had been looking for a dog for a couple months now and she had talked about getting a Doberman because we had one when I was young and she was the best dog I had ever had, up until I got Ali of course ;) ! So when my mom called and told me the news I was sooooooooo excited, I can't wait to go home this weekend and meet her :D (Her ears had just been pinned, so that is why they are taped!).

I had been having a bad day up until my mom called, but my mood immediately changed at just the thought of this playful little pup! How could you be in a bad mood after seeing how precious she is?? I will have a Doberman of my own one day! So I dedicate this blog to all the amazing dogs out there, they really do change peoples lives for the better! <3 And of course my one love Mr. Ali.

Also, this past weekend was my youngest nephews first birthday party. The party was so much fun and I enjoyed spending quality time with all of my family.

Oh and not that I am counting or anything......but 5 weeks till Spring Break!

Palmistry

We have all wondered about the lines on our hand at some point or another throughout our lives. And heard stories or folks tails about what the lines could possibly mean. Well when i was on the greatest website ever....Pinterest :) I came across this pin and found it extremely interesting.

Take a look-----> http://www.wikihow.com/Read-Palms

In other news, crazy to think that it is already February 1rst!!!!!!! This semester is cruising right along. I completed my second capstone this week and got to anchor my first NG as well as successfully start my first IV, I am definitely starting to feel like a real nurse and all the years of hard work are starting to pay off.

Who do you guys think will win?!

Other than that I am busily trying to get all my homework done for this week so that I am able to enjoy this weekend, and watch the ever famous Superbowl!!!

Hope you all had a great week.
