El Fin.

Oh finals are complete, and life is now good until January 14th!

I hope all of you completed your semester with a bang and are ready to enjoy break! I can't wait to start baking and getting into the Christmas spirit. I will be starting my shopping this weekend, better late than never right? I am very excited to spend time with my family and have some time off work :)

To kick off the start of break my nursing class and I all went out and celebrated. We themed the celebration "Ugly Christmas sweater" party, it was funny to see all of the ugly sweaters and the whole class having fun! It is crazy to think that when I started this program 3 years ago that all of my classmates were strangers, now we all have become close and it is almost like a little nursing family!

Me, Cari and Emily

I do also want to say, that my thoughts and prayers are with those involved in the Connecticut tragedy. And that I am very proud of our president showing such compassion and reminding people to cherish each an every day that they have.

Nothing says Christmas like watching Elf :)

Ahh we have finally made it to December! Although, it doesn't quite seem like December or Christmas time for that matter because there is no snow, and I have been so busy. As I have become older I don't really look at time by months or days, I look at time by when my next assignment is due or project etc..so quite frankly this whole semester has gone by and I don't feel like I have had time to celebrate anything adequately  So I am glad that this semester is finally coming to an end and I will have plenty of free time to enjoy the holiday with my family, relax and prepare for my last semester of college.

Since I am a broke college student I have found that the easiest way to please everyone is to bake a bunch of goodies. For the past couple years I have been doing this and it has gone over very well. Pinterest is definitely helping this year with so many good and new ideas. It will be hard to not want to eat the goodies myself!! Lol Hopefully I will remember to take some pictures of all the festitivites

But before I can truly relax I have to get through another week and a half of school :( Two finals and a final check off are standing in my way. So I will be studying from now until December 17th!

That being said, study hard and finish up this semester strong!!!!!

CAMPUS=life saver

Need a class to take? I suggest a foreign language culture class. This semester I am taking a Spanish Poetry class and it is absolutely wonderful! Each unit we are asked to complete some type of multimedia project. We have chosen our favorite poem and recorded it, we’ve created an object that represents our favorite poem, and this unit we focused on movement. Our assignment was to pick out our favorite poem from the Baroque Period and put together a video, skit, dance, etc. that sets the poem into action!

I asked BREEZY STRETE—the volleyball super star stud—to help with my film. She did awesome! And we had a good time filming it. The quality is a little fuzzy, but I think it turned out great! I was able to hook up with the CENTER FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING for video help. In the CTL, I used the computer software to add a song to the background, edit the film, and put it all together.

What I am trying to say here is: USE YOUR RESOURCES on campus to bring life to your assignments! Shoot, use the resources on campus to bring excitement into your own life! The faculty and staff at IUE is more than willing to help you!

ENJOY THE FILM!

Ummm hello winter?

I went to Atl, Georgia for the weekend. In Atl it was 85 degrees = awful...it was like summer all over again. I never thought I would actually miss Indiana weather and all its crazyiness until I saw first hand that some states don't even have a fall. I love fall and everything that it brings! So when I stepped off the plane...i was informed that we had a frost advisory for the morning..uhhhhh whatttt?!? It was 52 degrees in my apt. and we had to turn on the heat, that is crazy for early October! I am not at all ready for snow or temperatures below 50 degrees.

I hope to make time to go to the orchard, carve pumpkins, eat caramel apples and anything pumpkin flavored ;) But if not yall enjoy for me!

In other news I am almost out of the weeds with my school work. I just recently had to turn in so many things within a small amount of time that I felt like I was drowning. But now I am able to hold my head above water for a little bit. I just keep telling myself that it is almost over and that it is all going to be worth it!!! Also it helps to know that we are almost half way through the semester and shortly after that Thanksgiving break will be here!

Have an amazing rest of the week!

October 1rst!?!?

Everyone always says as you get older time goes faster. This semester so far time has truly flown by. We are already almost half way through the semester, shortly after we hit the halfway point it will be Thanksgiving break and then final examination time. Ahhhh I am beyond excited to be at that point, but I in no way want to wish time away. Even though this semester is extremely stressful and I feel like there is not enough time in a day for everything, I know that it won't always be like this. Every experience creates a memory and I want to remember them all. Plus I take pride in knowing that I am working hard to get where I am going.

As I look around at my peers and my friends that I will be graduating with in May, you can truly see the growth and development that has taken place over the 4-5years we have all been here. I wonder where everyone will be in 5-10years. It makes me laugh when I think back to when I was in high school and where I thought i would be back then. When I was a senior in high school I planned on being engaged my senior year of college and graduating in four years, have an idea and a job lined up.<-------My life is nothing like this Lol. I have a plan to be in the United States Army Nurse Corps but a lot of factors play into that, I don't know where I will be living or who I will end up marrying. I do know that if an opportunity presents itself then I am going to take it, because there is one thing that I have learned these past 5 years and that is if there is a situation that presents itself where you may be unsure, GO FOR IT anyways because ultimately you will always regret not doing something.

Just some simple words of advice :)

Now unfortunately I have a mass amount of hw to complete before this week is over! Have a productive week everyone!!

Because you had a bad day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH476CxJxfg  <--Story of my life.

I am sure each of you have had your own experiences with bad luck, but I feel as if my bad luck has been running high for about a month now. Today hopefully was rock bottom so I can only go up from here right?? Let me just tell you about this awful day and then you can decide for yourselves ;)

Just a little background: I drive a 2000 Ford Explorer and I have been driving it for about four years now. it has over 180,000 miles on it and it gets meet from point A to point B and that is all that really matters.

I decided to make a couple repairs each month this summer, that way I could make my car last at least one more year. Because when I graduate this year the first thing I am buying is a new car! So over the summer I have probably put a total of $800 into fixing this beast and today I was finishing up the repairs which included: Two new front tires, alignment and an oil change. So I take my car into the place at 8:00am they finish all the work by 10:00am. I drive off the premises and almost make it back home when all of a sudden my power steering goes out and the car shuts off....in the MIDDLE of the street. I panicked Lol I called like five people and didn't know what to do, so I finally checked the oil and sure enough there was absolutely no oil in the car :( . I had to have my car towed back into the place and they fixed the oil "problem" but of course the engine is blown...so a bad situation turn worse. I am crossing my fingers that my luck will change here in the next couple of weeks *crosses fingers*.

On the bright side of things I have officially completed my first Critical Care clinical. I was soooo nervous when I got there and I really felt out of my element but with the help of an awesome nurse by the end of the day I definitely felt like a nurse. And it felt really good. So that wraps up week three of my senior year.

*Sigh* Let me stop complaining and get back to my homework. Have a great weekend peeps :)

Two weeks down……how many more to go?!

Hello all, we officially have two weeks of the semester in the books. If you are a nursing student that means that we have finished "Nursing Boot Camp" at least that is what I like to call it. Nursing Boot Camp consists of two weeks of orientations that are packed with both new and old information. Each day there is a new topic/task that we are learning and by the time the day ends your brain is filled. Overwhelming would be an understatement, but the whole point of these long days is to prepare us for our clinical experience which is very important! The big cresendo at the end of Nursing Boot Camp is the skills check off and the math test. A skills check off is where we are tested on everything that we have learned in those two weeks and previous semesters and you get two attempts to complete the skill. Needless to say check off day is a nursing students D-Day Lol. Just yesterday I completed my check off and I am impatiently waiting for them to tell me whether or not I have to redo a certain section, fingers crossed that I passed everything on the first try :/

But enough about school..I am stressed all over again just thinking about it! In other news as I do every semester I have to promote my all time favorite R&B singer. The absolutely amazing Trey Songz. His new album came out on August 21rst, and you best believe I went and purchased his album that day!!! I am a dedicated Trey Songz fan and I have everyone of his cds. Crazy? maybe but have you seen Trey Songz?! Lol I can't wait to see him in concert at some point.

Have an amazing weekend peeps
