****GOOD LUCK EVERYONE****

I just wanted to write a short post and encourage everyone to STUDY HARD and KICK @$$ on finals!! Summer 2013 is a week away
Today being Monday already feels like it is taking forever....which makes it seem like Wednesday will never be here!! Probably because the only thing standing between me and summer break is my final on Wednesday that I have no motivation to study for :/. I think I have pre-senioritis Lol
And on top of finals being this week, our track conference meet is this weekend at Berea College in Kentucky! I am excited to attend this meet and defend my two conference titles! I am also excited to watch and encourage my other teammates and try to capture a Team Conference Championship Title!
I think when school and track are completely over I am going to sleep for 3 days straight lol and then dive into summer 2013! Again I wish everyone the best of luck with finals, finish the semester strong! And make this summer the best you have ever had

The season got under way this past weekend, opening at Wabash College. The weather was perfect and we proved that all those months of hard work is definitely going to pay off. Four records were broken, and we had a lot of top three placements. You can check out the meet results and read the summary at --->http://www.iueredwolves.com/article/1603.php
In other news, can anyone else believe this weather we are having?! Last year at this time..i feel like there was still snow on the ground and it rained constantly! I am not complaining about the summer like weather but it sure does make it hard to go to class. I am beyond excited that we have a mere 6 weeks left of this semester and then I can finally call myself a SENIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--I obviously can't wait lol

1 CommentWe Have Made It Half Way!!
If you would have asked me in the summer if I would make it this far..I would have told you no! This semester and last semester have been crazy, I am still in shock at how much my brain can hold, and I can handle myself in certain situations of surmounting pressure! I know I still have a couple weeks until the semester is over and I will FINALLY be a senior but I have to say that I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel ( in a good way ) Lol.
In other news, the track season has begun and we have our first track meet this Sautrday..Saint Patty's Day! Our team has been working very hard, and I am feeling good about the meet! I am just hoping that the weather corporates. My only complaint about track season is, that I have literally never been on a spring break trip because workouts and meets always cross paths with track commitments. So I admire all track athletes for sucking it up and being at practice & competing. Because let me tell you how awful it is too look at all of your friends Spring Break pictures and they are having an absolute blast. Instead i can only dream about beaches, and sunshine!
I know this post is short but what can I say, lol I am in complete Spring Break mode! Hope you all enjoy, be safe wherever you are and come back ready and focused to finish up the semester strong!

1 CommentA Record Breaking Weekend….
This weekend was both good and bad. Let me start by telling you about the bad. First, I was in class from 8-4 on Friday and then i had to go straight to work from 5-9......and on top of that I started to feel sick
<--------Okay, I just wanted to complain a little lol that was a super long day. But anyways on to the good news!

I had my first indoor track meet of the season at Anderson University! I entered myself into the shot-put, and me fellow teammate Vanessa Legg competed in the high jump, shot-put, and 200 meter. Vanessa won the high jump and did really well in the 200! I placed third overall in the shot-put and shattered the school record! So needless to say it was a very successful weekend, and I am proud of both her and I
I also posted the results of the entire me---> http://www.directathletics.com/results/track/23110.html
Also the movie The Vow came out, and I dragged my roommate Lauren Crump to go see it! I won't tell you guys all of the details.......but I loved it, it was a slight tear jerker and I would def. recommend you go see it. I also have to ask, why the heck are movie theaters so cold all the time??

1 Comment::Sweet September::
ummm if I am not mistaken this is like the fifth or sixth week of school, where has the time gone??? I have already had {{3}} exams <----CRAZY! Not to mention about a **Zillion** papers......ok...maybe not that many, but def. to many for my liking!
September was exciting, and jammed pack!
First, I started my clinical rotations in Psych and Medsurg. My psych rotation was very interesting to say the least. I was beyond nervous but it ended up being a very eye opening experience and it was a good way to work on my communication skills. I had my medsurg clinical at Arbor Trace nursing home. If you have never been into a nursing home it is an experience within its self. Arbor Trace is one of the nicest nursing homes I have ever been in, but sometime no matter how appealing the place it is still sad to see all the people, who would want nothing more than to have a conversation with someone and have someone listen to their stories.
I enjoyed getting to know my patient and it felt good to know that even though I was only there two days I still made a little bit of a difference in her day. This week I have to administer medication for the first time to a "real" person Lol (we practice on dummies in the nursing lab). So I already know that a dummie and a person are nothing alike Lol....I am beyond nervous and I am at that point where you think you know how to do something but then when you get ready to do it...its like uhhhhhhhh......idk?? Hopefully I get over this before I have to do it :/!

Other than school, track workouts are still in full effect and the volleyball team has still been going full force towards a conference title! So that bring me to my wonderful friend and fellow nursing student Cari Dew! Cari and I have been in the nursing program for a year now...we have suffered, celebrated, contemplated quiting together Lol. But we have made it thus far, and I wouldn't have been able to do it with out her help <-----------I know that was extremely nice hahaha! Anyways Cari and I made posters for the Volleyball game and I must say that we probably should have considered Art as a major.
It was also my BEAUTIFUL sisters 19 birthday!! Which makes me feel kinda old. I have to say that i might just be the best sister ever because I surprised her at work with an amazing gift!! She loved it but said I wasn't her favorite sister......(she is my only sister Lol :@). But I love her anyways
!
BTW can i mention how wonderful this fall weather is????? #loveit BOOTS:SCARVES:COATS!!!!!!!
ps: Have a good school week, and does anybody know how many days until Christmas??

4 CommentsAnd How Did You Feel About That??
So everyone we have now made it through the second week of school..............but quite honestly this week was three times longer than last week (I hope this is not a trend). This week in Nursing School life we had class again Mon-Wed and then another set of 8 hour orientations Thursday and Friday. I happen to be sitting in class right now......(don't tell my teacher) Lol. If i take anything away from what i have learned so far in college it is the process of multi-tasking which i happen to think i do very well......I mean i am doing it right now, Lol i am attentively listening and typing this blog while keeping my eyes on the power-point that we are going over. <------------Who wouldn't call that Talent??

I am very excited about the Psych rotation that i am in this semester. In some ways it is kind of scary...because right now we are learning about all of the precautions that we must take when being at the clinical site and what to wear and not wear, along with what we are allowed to say and some things we should absolutely never say! Also, i have never been more interested in assigned reading than i have been with my Psych textbook...it really is extremely interesting to understand how the brain works and what exactly is going on when people have mental disorders. It is sad in some ways...to realize at some points the person can't do anything about about and it takes a toll on everyone in the situation. I know it has to be a difficult situation and I just hope people realize that mental disorders are a disease and it takes patience and understanding to really treat them with the respect they deserve; because they are people just like everybody else. The link below is too the National Institute of Mental Health...for more specific information on mental disorders.

In other school news: We had our track meeting this past week, and I have to say I am soooooo READY!! Although track doesn't officially start until March 4th
....The new comers seem like that are going to be a good addition to the already talented field of athletes that we have. My fellow returners, I know.. have a unanimous goal which is to make it to Nationals and to win both the boys and girls Conference Titles. The girls did it last year with only three people! Which was extremely impressive, and I know with the talent from the freshman that we are adding this year number 1 is not out of our reach!

I would also like to mention in Sports news that my wonderful room mate Lauren Crump and best friend Breezy Strete are doing BIG THINGS this year in volleyball! Both Lauren, Breezy and the rest of the IUE VBALL team are a thrill to watch. It is interesting to see how far the program has come even when being a part of it the two years that i participated!! The vball team is the definition of HARDWORK and it shows! I would recommend everyone try to catch at least one game and see what I am talking about
There next home game is September 14! And all the home games are held at Seton Catholic High School!!

Also i must mention that the weather has done a complete 360......this past Labor Day weekend, specifically Saturday was extremely hot and then on actual Labor Day it was sooo chilly! But I am not complaining...warm weather is not my thing. I LOVE the Fall, I am an addictive coat, boot, scarf, jean buyer. It is almost becoming a problem Lol I counted my jeans the other day when i cleaned out my closet and i have exactly 62 pairs!!!!!! CRAZY!

8 CommentsThe definition of Summer 2011 = BlAzIn
It has been a long, hot, stressful summer! Between taking three summer classes and a broken air conditioner, things got pretty hot Lol! But let me start off by saying CONGRATS, to my fellow nursing classmates for making it through to the next level! It feels AMAZING to have made it thus far........yet if we thought that that semester was hard, we really have know idea Lol
Next, let me say Welcome back everyone! And the first week is now done and over with...it just so happened to be one of the longest weeks of my life! I never thought that after high school I would have to go back to school 5 days a week...little did I know this semester that is what i have to do! I am in my Junior year of nursing which means i am embarking on the dreaded MEDSURG class..which I have heard horror stories about since I started at IUE :/ ! My strategy is too take it day by day and read as much as I can
Along with classes back in full swing, I have decided upon graduation that i am going into the Army as a Nurse and i absolutely cannot wait! So i have started training for that, I never realized how much push ups really suck!!!!!! Also we had a photo shoot for track and the pictures turned out amazing! Putting my uniform back on, def made me determined to work that much harder for the spring!

The IUE VBALL team
School News: The IUE VBALL team has a game this upcoming wednesday on the 7th! EVERYONE should come out andsupport them! IUE TRACK: is having a meeting the 7th also, so if anybody is interested they should stop by, we start workouts Sept 12th!
HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND PREPARE FOR A GOOD SEMESTER
