So close you can smell it….

fresh cut grass, final exams fresh off the printer.....and fresh goose poo all over the campus?? lol You know what that all means, summer time is right around the corner! This has been yet another challenging semester of the nursing program. Hope everyone in the program or just anyone taking classes has a good finals week and takes their next step to graduation with no delays.

I don't know if it will help you guys, but our nursing teachers told us to chew mint gum while you study and test, sleep plenty before the test, eat a breakfast higher in calories and salt to help concentrate and to help your little neurotransmitters find their way. I know it's hard to do but try not to cram the night before either! I'm guilty of this every time! :(

On a side note, I got accepted to go on my senior nursing trip next year! It to Washington D.C. and NYC in the fall of next year. This will take place of my community clinical for my senior year, so we will spend time going out into the community and helping the less fortunate and experiencing a different aspect of nursing in a large city. I'm super excited to get out and see all that there is to do as well as getting to see another one of the countless sides of nursing.

****GOOD LUCK EVERYONE****

I just wanted to write a short post and encourage everyone to STUDY HARD and KICK @$$ on finals!! Summer 2013 is a week away :D :D :D :D :D

Today being Monday already feels like it is taking forever....which makes it seem like Wednesday will never be here!! Probably because the only thing standing between me and summer break is my final on Wednesday that I have no motivation to study for :/. I think I have pre-senioritis Lol

And on top of finals being this week, our track conference meet is this weekend at Berea College in Kentucky! I am excited to attend this meet and defend my two conference titles! I am also excited to watch and encourage my other teammates and try to capture a Team Conference Championship Title!

I think when school and track are completely over I am going to sleep for 3 days straight lol and then dive into summer 2013! Again I wish everyone the best of luck with finals, finish the semester strong! And make this summer the best you have ever had

One test down, 4 to go

Just got done taking my 85 question test over the always exciting endocrine system and auditory system. I know your jealous lol. I'm feeling pretty confident though, which is always a good feeling coming out of any nursing test. I always think it's funny when incoming students are told about study habits and time management in college and just blow it off. I know I did, and man was I wrong! lol Going from never having to study in high school to putting in HOURS before each test is definitely a change up, so my words of advice to anyone is START EARLY! You may be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but it is for sure a lot harder to do.

We finished up our semester long group project and presented it yesterday at the Nursing Showcase. My group's topic was stethoscope cleaning. I never really thought about it being a positionally infectious and dirty thing, but after doing some swabs an

Crunch time!

Why does it seem like the closer to the end of the semester we get, the more work seems to pile up on you?! I hope everyone is managing their mound of work well and keeps on track for these last few weeks, and that they also had a nice Easter weekend and got to spend time not thinking about work for a while and got to relax with family and friends.

This is a busy week for us Junior nursing students. We all have a presentation to give at the nursing showcase on Tuesday morning, a Med/Surg test on Wednesday, and then clinicals on Thursday and Friday. Thanks to Michelle Curry for moving our psychology exam that was supposed to be TODAY back to next Monday to allow for all of us to get through this week and have time to focus and study for each test.

I don't know how each of you spent your holiday weekend, but sadly for me all of my family was out of town on a vacation :( . So I made myself an Easter dinner courtesy of KFC, watched the masters, and did homework. Sounds fun I know lol. I also picked up the clubs for the first time in a few years and hit the links, and for any of you that think golf is easy....you're wrong!! It definitely took a while to shake the rust off, but I had a good time and was able to relax after getting mad about losing 2394839487 golf balls.

LONDONTOWN VIDEO DIARY

This would be Tyra's face trying to take my picture. AWKWARD.

ANTM ADVENTURES IN LONDON!

Come with me to London! I took videos throughout the day last Friday so you'll get to start the day with us on the train, go in the Museum of London (the video is dark sometimes), catch the view from the Tower Bridge, hear me sporadically speak in my English accent and get  our final thoughts of the day. We were tired, if you can't tell. Also- I think I pick my nose in the beginning? Awesome. Enjoy! xx

dancing our way to Pittsburgh

Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? I’ll tell you what. Being a part of the athletic program here at IU East has given me the opportunity to travel to places I have never been and probably wouldn’t have gone in my lifetime.

Pittsburgh. Two universities from Pittsburgh entered into our conference, thus, giving my tennis team the opportunity to travel to the BIG, CONGESTED, HILLY, BUSY, CRAMMED IN, POPULATED city. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. The way to city was constructed and built just had me in awe. I’m from Indy, so I thought I knew what city life looked and felt like. But driving around this place just made me speechless. It was nothing like Indianapolis.

If you get the chance to leave home or your area, DO IT! Being exposed to new and different things can really open up your eyes to what else is out there. Sometimes I think we feel like the world consists of us, our family, friends, and the people we see every day. Well you’re dead wrong!

Go see the world.

Let me tell you about my best frienddddd uhh

I have 6 very lovely best friends ----> Breezy Strete, April Acree, Amanda Dana, Cheryl Rutherford, Cari Dew , and last but not least Miss Lauren Crump who this very blog is about!

I am writing this blog about Lauren because it just happens to be her 21rst birthday today!!!!!!! <----I feel more excited for her birthday than I was for my own birthday lol.

But let me start off by thanking Lauren and Breezy for giving me the best birthday week EVER! I am normally not one for surprises but they got me good. When I got home from my track meet on Saturday both Lauren an Breezy planned a night in, so I joined them and then I went with Lauren to go get a movie, and when I got home and opened Breezys door there EVERYONE was! My face was most likely priceless lol and I honestly was speechless. And they had a poster in which all of my friends signed, I loved it! This is the first time I have ever really felt my age...Time sure does fly <3

That being said, Lauren is finally turning 21 and I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this girl is! Lauren is one of the most determined, hardworking, beautiful, loyal friends I have ever had the privilege of knowing and being roommates with. And needless to say she has is talented on the volleyball court and in the classroom! I just want to say you finally made it to 21, and I am so proud of you :D

I hope you have an absolutely AMAZING birthday, and an even better weekend. Mucho Loveeeeeee
