I wanted to post and try to play catch up on my not so busy life. Being stuck inside because of the snow for 2 weeks can be rough. Felt a little like the Donner Party, but hungry for education.

I did get out and about a little bit during the weather a little. I came out to campus and played in the snow. I did a little homage to Calvin & Hobbes. Built a Snowman Swimming away form Snowsharks.I think I did a pretty good job. I wanted to make more, but I didn’t have enough friends rallied to help. Friend Tyson came and helped out as well. Plus the snow was more skiing quality and not Snowart making

Here is some pics of Tyson, making a Snow Angel & Dunking. It was still a lot of fun to venture out to Campus create SnowArt.

WOOT! Spring semester is off to a riveting start for me and I am glad I have a lot of great classmates and friends out here on campus! It really helps with stressful times. I hope you all read my last post, Genetic Gag, it was quite comical.

This semester is going to be a lot of fun for me. I have a really cool Evolution class with one of my favorite professors… I have Spanish II, which I am going to crack this language thing this semester I am on the brink I tells ya! Even if I have to get outside help I want to be proficient at this class. Also I will be using this language to help in another class. Free Trade vs. Fair trade in C.America…aka I am going to Costa Rica on Spring break!!! yeah that is right! It is a class, much like my Belize class I took this past summer! Good group going and it is highly educational. Sidenote: Us students that are going are doing a fundraiser, it is only 5$, with a coupon packet. anyways… whats my other class.. oh yeah I finally get to have Hitesh and LaFuze as instructors for a class. It is an online class call Hormones & Humanity, no textbooks either! It totally seems like a cool class I will learn a lot of information about our bodies than I never knew or may never wanted to know. lol

So I forgot about this picture and beard. I meant to throw this up on a previous post. This is how goofy I am with my beard on occasion and my friend Blythe put this hat on to really pop off the extreme goofiness of it all.

Anyways there are a lot of cool activities coming up on campus, Rumor has it a Sci-Fi club is in the works. There is also a Murder Mystery which totally sounds a lot of fun too!

Update on the tattoo, well I have a current picture but it is really red and a lot of color still. So I am going to hold off until the tattoo is complete. I have officially 4-5hrs left of work left. It is amazing. a lot of people on campus stop me and ask to view it. Thanx! I totally do not mind.

Well I am off for now. I will be having more interesting things coming I will share. Also hunt me down on Facebook too.

This is the story of a good clean prank.

Background Story:

So I had a Genetics class last semester with some of the best classmates a student could ask for plus an instructor that has a great sense of humor too. The 1st week of class we had a quiz and one of the questions on the quiz was asking us the names of the people in our lab groups. Well my friend and classmate Matt freaked out and missed that question. Sorry Matt you panicked.

lol if you didn’t it would not have laid the frame work for future events to come.

Anyways, every so often throughout the semester when an exam cam near he asked our Prof if a question like that was going to be on the quiz or exam. She replied no every time.

A few days prior to the final a few of us got together and studied, Matt included. While there we joked with Matt about that it would be funny if that question was on the exam…After Matt left and we took a break I had an idea. An idea that would lead to a great prank pulled on campus!

The concept was simple, create a fake exam with questions with obvious answers and have the Prof hand it out somehow. Duplicate the 6 questions multiple times that would make up a full 1st page of an exam. By duplicating it several times it creates a thick 7page exam to give the illusion of it being real.

Here is what the questions were on the Fake Final Exam:

So continuing… We typed that up and then on my way out I’d run it passed our prof just by chance to see if she would approve and go in on it. I mentioned it to her and well, she agreed! lol I didn’t even have to do any convincing. She thought it was a great idea.

The day of the exam came, and the plan was as she handed out our exam she would set this one on top to hand out to matt specifically. Now bare in mind the entire class was notified of this and waited for Matt to start taking it. I managed to also hide my camera and video tape it. here are the results!

SO there ya go! I had to take the video in 2 parts because Matt kept looking up and around “like is this for real” look. lol

Enjoy. Cya on campus. Oh and message for all fellow classmates you are unsafe from pranks from me just to let you know for future reference.

As you just left your Hero he was about to venture into the world of finals and then into winter break.

SO lets play catch up…

It is now 2010, I spent my 1st few days of the New Year visiting friends up at University of Wisconsin going for there phD in biochemistry. My friend showed me around the labs. Really amazing stuff there.

Finals week was rough, but I did well. I felt though personally I didn’t try my hardest as I could have last semester. This semester I am going to work my butt off. Means less fun time, less video games. You gotta do what you gotta do though. Also During finals week I played a great prank on a friend in my genetics class. This epic story will be told in another blog which includes pictures and video. You’ll love it!

I have more work done on my tattoo! It is nearing completion. This is where it is currently. Whatcha think? I do have a couple more sessions involved. The folks over in Indy at Voluta are awesome. Nuff said. Once it is all done and healed I’ll get up some nice pictures of it just for all to see! Also if you meet me on campus just ask to see it. I don’t mind

The holidays/winter break have been spent keeping Spanish fresh and playing video games. I hope everyone is enjoying their break.

ok not really, but the end of the semester is close! This is crunch time! I love it. I thrive off of chaos. I enjoy being very busy, I know you must think I am crazy, but I do. Let me expand though. I enjoy being busy with school work when it just piles and piles, up and up. I do some of my best work in these times of chaos. All my attention is focused towards very few, but challenging goals.

Ill also be honest in the fact I cannot wait until this semester is over. It has been my most toughest semester so far and I cannot wait for some vacation time (aka CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2).

Stay tuned during break also. I plan on blogging a lot during break. I plan on another portion of my tattoo being done on top of maybe going out to visit D.C.

Until soon. Good luck for the final weeks we must endure.

The following is an email I sent to a lot of my classmates early this morning.

Please attend Chat with Chancellor

Please read this…

Hello, I am Jerry Richwine, I am writing every one of my past and current classes because a change is happening on campus. I feel as students we should know what this change is.

How many of you have used any program offered by Tutorial Services (math lab, S.I. Leaders, writing lab, tutors, etc…)? I have! I am also employed by them as an SI Leader. As you know Tutorial Services is a separate part of the University as its own Department. The Chancellor announced Friday that it is no longer centralized. The details that I know concerning this are as follows:

The program is going to be split into control of the departments themselves. i.e. Math Lab will be relocated and administered by the Math Department. Writing & Reading Lab to English…

S.I. Program to ???

The reason given for this is “economic savings”.

I have many questions and concerns for this. Mainly, why? How does this affect me, and how is this going to affect you as students. I cherish this Department. If it wasn’t for tutorial services, I’d still be a below average math student, would not have been able to help other students with Biology, and assist aspiring nurses to move further into the Nursing Program. I want to know whether this is going to be a change for the better of the students, rather than economic reasons. I also want to know why short notice and why this is going to take place over winter break within a 3-4 week time period instead of summer? To me this is going to confuse the new students we are trying to retain. These few concerns are only the beginning of many.

I encourage you to attend the Chat with Chancellor Today Wed Nov 18th, at 5pm in the Graf center.

If you ever attend a Chat with him, please let it be this one! Get involved with your campus life. Let your Voice Be Heard!

Whether you have enjoyed this program or not please come and show your concerns, support, and thoughts.

Thank you

Jerry

Finally, after many years of searching and debate I got a tattoo. I am no stranger to body modifications. I used to have a few piercings at one time. I have settled on a few ideas over the past 2years, but due to my pickyness of places to go locally and not wanting a place that just slaps them on, I have never found a tattoo place to call home. The one day I just started surfing the net for tattoos and tattoo parlors within a couple hours drive. I stumbled across Voluta Tattoo in Indianapolis online. They have this great philosophy and they didn’t do walk-ins. Oh and of course what really grabbed my interest, is that also they do art outside of tattoos. I really liked that aspect about them.

Okay, now lets begin with the play by play story.

This is the concept pictures and Dina, my artist Drawing the Concept.Your probably wondering why trees. Well I have a few reasons. Mainly I like the outdoors and nature. yes there is a bit of a tree-hugger inside as well. Plus, kinda depressing, but, trees don’t hurt your feelings, nor complain, nor be mean, etc… They are peaceful and tranquil. Very relaxing for me.

Me Signing my paperwork and getting the small amount of the gross back hair shaved. ugh…back hair…

This is Dina applying the Stencil.

Dina is editing the sketch where the stencil didn’t stick well enough.

Here is the stencil/spot check before the tattooing got started along with my butt crack and red undies…(sorry for these shots, tough to edit out.)

And now it begins.

It didn’t hurt much. Although my left side of my body was definitely more tender than my right. Funny how that works. Yes that is a smile on my face, see how happy and proud I was getting this done! long time coming! The other person in the mid photo is Laura, she is another artist at Voluta. She is really good at mesmerizing patterns! Maybe in the future I’ll get her to do one.

After 2.5hours Phase 1 is complete!

There ya go. 60% final product. Feel free to stop me in the halls to get a closer look too I won’t mind. Just know i am still healing and it isn’t fully completed.

The next phase ,in 2 weeks, is the adding of the canopy, detail work, and some more color. It should be totally finished by the time we get back from fall break!

I might add a third phase as well. Which I actually thought of as I was being tattooed. Phase 3= Adding lightning bugs, done in ink that glows under UV light. So you can’t see them unless you have special lights…

There ya go, my 1st tattoo, and for all of you to see!

Also thank you Katie, my good friend for going with and taking pictures! & of Course Dina and everyone at Voluta! Great experience!

Well I will see you one campus. Stay Classy Classmates I’ll see ya on campus.

Enjoy
