CORNY Genetics

IMG_2370Today we learned about CORN! SEE!

We had a pretty easy lab to do on Friday. Basically all we did was count the alleles of corn and then try to develop a ratio from them. There was a a lot of counting involved. We counted something like 2000 kernels of corn.

IMG_2371Another lab we did was to identify alleles frequencies in fruit flies. It was cool. Had a couple boring moments though as well, but what can you do, your not here to be entertained, your here to learn.

Here is a picture of greg and zach. They are looking at knocked out flies under a scope.IMG_2356Greg had really know clue what he was looking at. He hogged the scope for an eternity. FOOR-EEER-VEEER!
