Tough Night for IUE VbaLL!

HOWL CROWDLast night on Wednesday Sept. 16th, IUE Volleyball team had a tough match against their opponent, Huntington University. We played Huntington at the Grace College tournament a few weeks back. We beat them in 4 matches. Last night was our second chance to prove we were better, and able to beat them for the second time. We started off with our pregame warmup. Then it was game time! We started the game off kinda slow for us. Huntington came out and took game one from IUE, but IUE was not going to let that happen again. The Red Wolves came out and won the second game. The next 2 games were back and forth. It came down to the fifth game, IUE had a come back on the switch of 7-8 with the victory. The Red Wolves kept the lead, and won the match. IUE Volleyball is 11-2 now!!!! The gym was not quiet at all; “The Howl Crowd” was very intense in the game. They were very supported for the IUE volleyball team and dressed for the occasion (see pic. for details :) )! The gym was packed and there were many people there to support us, and we appreciate it a lot! Our next home match is next Saturday, Sept. 26th!!!! Hope to see everyone there to support us!

*OUR HOUSE…8-0*

Lastnight, IUE Volleyball team had their first home game! They played Miami University-Middletown. We played them lastnight year, and won in 3 matches. But coming out in a new season, Miami had recruited a stronger outside and middle hitter; so we knew it wasn’t going to be a cake walk! As we started warming up, more and more fans entered the gym. By the time we started warm ups, the gym was filled with students, family, and IUE fans! The teams’ adrenaline was high, and we’re pumped about playing at home! When it was finally game time, the gym was pretty crowded for a volleyball game. We started a new thing this year, called the “Howl Crowd,” which is where IUE students can go to Campus Life and get a t-shirt that says “Howl Crowd” and they get to sit in a set of bleachers on one end of the court. They started out quiet at first, then they all finally started yelling and cheering! The first match was played pretty close, but we finished out 25-15. Next match was also close, we came out with 25-16. The final match, the crowd was loud and we came out ready to play! We won 25-8! Lastnight home opener set a new record for IUE. They had the most fans at a IUE volleyball match lastnight–and it changed the tempo of the game for the players! The crowd brought energy for us during the last match, and it was proven by the score. IUE Volleyball is now 8-0 and we will be heading over to Cedarville, Ohio this Friday and Saturday. Our next home game is next Wednesday, September 16th at 7:00!!!!!! I hope to see everyone back!!!! See ya!

No More Summer… :(

So, we’re back in classes now. We just ended the 1st week…it went pretty well. My classes were full, and i met tons of new people! I have a break between my classes, so I hang out in the Graf Center; everyone was in there too! There were so many people playing ping pong, or pool. Some were just hanging around talking to their friends. I loved the feeling of everyone around you in a good mood of being back in school. I have class with a bunch of my teammates–so it isn’t so bad if I don’t know many people. But I love to meet new people and make friends! I have classes with many of my new friends I met last year in my classes. This weekend was Labor day weekend, I hope everyone had fun and enjoyed their weekend off! :) I can’t wait to see everyone again on Tuesday!
