IUE Volleyball is taking one game at a time towards a conference win!
Oct 28, 2009 General
Lastnight IU East volleyball team traveled to Marian University in Indianapolis. It was a close match. We went back and forth with them and we played hard. Marian has beat us twice previously this season (once in 5 close games and then in 3 at a tournament). We started out strong and stayed right with them. but as the game progressed, we just didn’t push enough points at the end. IUE lost in 3 tough matches. We have had a rough week before with losing against Ohio Dominican at home, and also a loss from Mt. Saint Joseph. So another loss this week was rough on us mentally, but even though these losses were hard on us; we know we just need to keep preparing for the games in the long run. We are currently 4-0 in conference (that puts us in the lead). We will be traveling to Kentucky State University Friday night. We will be playing KSU, which is a strong team; they will push us to make us better. Then Saturday morning, we will be heading to Midway College for two conference matches. We will play Midway and Mountain State. These two games will show where we stand in the conference. We are not going to let down, and we are ready for a 6-0 record to help us push!
p.s. i will be informing you all how we do after Saturday on here
IUE Volleyball hit a rough spot…

This past weekend, IUE volleyball team took a roadtrip to Asbury College for the second weekend in a row. The first weekend we had a good time and went 2-0. Then another week passed, and we headed back down there for some more competition. We played 2 games on Friday and 2 on Saturday. We started Friday by playing Bryan College. We played tough, but came out short and lost in 5 games. We then had a break between games, so all of us got to rest for a game before we played our next match. Our final match of the night was against Marion. We have played Marion a few weeks before at home, and got beat in 5 close games. We wanted to get a win on them, but we came out having too many errors and not enough focus. These kind of problems cause another loss for us. We all were very frustrated with losing and somewhat with each other after our first games of the weekend. We then talked it out and got everything back on track; we were ready for the next day. We played an early game Saturday (9:00 am). We played Webber College from Florida. We came out strong and talkative, and looked like IUE volleyball. As the game progressed, we died down and seemed satisfied with how we were playing. It wasn’t working for us at all. Finally, we played back to where we needed to be, and we pushed out to play a 5th game. We ended up coming out short in the last set and lost. At this point, we were coming 0-3 for the weekend before our last match. We played our last match against St. Catherine College. They weren’t as strong as the other teams we played, but we knew we had to play our game no matter what. All the girls came out strong! We won the match is 3 games. This win helped us overcome the rest of the weekend in a way. We finished 1-3. We have learned that we have to be on our toes for any team. When our game is on, were good; but when it’s not–it’s not going to be easy at all. We all win some and we all lose some. IUE volleyball has realized we have a lot to work on, we just found out kind of in a bad way.
We still have the rest of season and conference! *18-8..2-0*
