IU East Volleyball Has Came to an End…

This past Saturday IU East volleyball team traveled to Taylor University for first round NAIA National match. We arrived on campus in time for a banquet for the two teams as a honor of playing in this game. The banquet started with everyone praying, and we began to eat. Then handing out the Champions of Character Award to one player from each team. I received this award representing IU East. I was so surprised, but honored! Finally, the banquet ended with introduction of the coaches and players. And a gift exchange (which is when both teams bring a shirt representing their school and trade with the opposing team). We got Taylor Volleyball shirts. We left the banquet to go get ready for game time! We got ready and started focusing on winning. We had regular warm-ups, then it was time to play! We started out playing right with them, and making them earn every point. But they had enough to get over that hump, and we got stuck. We lost the first game close. The second started good, but ended bad. We lost the second game. We were going into the third–all or nothing! We started the game high and intensed, but Taylor had more. We lost the final game, and lost 3-0. It was depressing and upsetting; But it happens! We now know what to expect going into a high level game. We ended with 30-12, a season conference title 8-0, a post season conference tourney title, and a trip to nationals…what more can we ask for!? We are ready for a trip to second round now next year!

IU East volleyball had a great weekend! We started off good after winning our first match on Friday. We then played in the on Saturday at 11:00 am against Cincinnati Christian. We beat them during regular season conference in 3, so we knew they were beatable. We came out kind of slow in the first game, but we still won in 3 finishing strong. We made it to the championship match the second year in a row. We come up against the same team also. IU East vs. Asbury–they beat us last year in 3 and went to nationals and got beat in the first round. We were here this year to leave a statement. We started out first game strong and ready to win! We won the first two games. Then the third game started and we started to relax–which was not good! We loss that game, so the fourth game started and we took the lead. We wanted the title so bad! “You got to want it, to win it!” and we wanted it bad!!!!!! Match point, Jessica White got the block! It felt amazing!..We now travel to Fort Wayne, and play Taylor University in the first round of nationals. We are playing at 3:00 pm on Saturday!!!! 
We play close to home (2 hours away)..we hope to see everyone take a fun road trip and come support us make history once more! The winner of this match then travels to Iowa to play the rest of the national matches. We are ready to go! GO IUE!!!!!

KIAC Conference Tournament has started for IUE Volleyball

Hey everyone! We left for conference tourney yesterday (Wednesday) evening. We had our first match today at 4:00 pm vs. St. Louis School of Pharmacy. We came out not playing the way we should have being seeded first this weekend. But we came back and showed everyone what we had. We won the match in 3 games. We now play tomorrow morning at 11:00 vs. Cincinnati Christian. The championship match starts at 4:00 pm. Hopefully were playing then for that trophy and the trip to nationals! IUE Volleyball on a 7 game winning streak!

IU East volleyball had their last season match of the year lastnight over at Ohio Northwestern. Last year, they came out and played very good against us; we did not show up. This year IU East showed up on their home court. We came out with nothing to lose. We wanted the last match to be a win, so that is how we played. We were unstoppable across the board! We came out winning the first two games. Then we settled with just those two, and the third did not come our way. For Ohio to get the third game from us, it gave them confidence knowing they were still in. The fourth game was a dog fight and we came out two points too short. We wanted to fifth game, we played tough and was not going to let down. We came out and won 15-10! We all played very well lastnight, and we got to keep that up for this weekend. We had two players set two school records lastnight. Lauren Crump had 67 assists which was the most assists in a match. Then Breezy Strete set the record of kills in a match. Also, I tied the record of digs in a match with 28! It was an all around good night for IU East volleyball.
We leave tomorrow for Conference Tourney. We will be playing at Asbury College. We are seeded first this weekend, so we play at 4:00 pm on Friday. If/when we win that match, we will play again on Saturday at 11:00 am. The championship game is at 4:00 pm that afternoon. Our next goal to accomplish is to win this tournament! Here we go! CONFERENCE CHAMPS! *8-0*

So this past Saturday was a big day for IUE Volleyball. We played 2 big conference games vs. Berea College and IU Southeast. We beat Berea in 3 for the first win of the day. That match made us 7-0 in the conference. The next game was the championship for KIAC! It was a very focused game. We knew it was a make it or break it deal. We started out strong and ready to play. We won the first game. The second game would be the one to tell us if we had it or not. We beat them good!!! For the 2rd game, we led and kept it. We beat IU Southeast for the conference championship in 3 games. We were so excited! We set a record for the first time ever. We were the first athletic team to ever win conference undefeated at IU East. It feels great! We have our last season game Tuesday night at Ohio Northwestern, then it is off the conference tourney. Next goal for IU East volleyball is go to nationals! Here we go!

Rough Week for Madison… :(

Hey everyone! Sorry I have not updated my blog this week…I promised a update about Saturday and I am running a little behind. Last week (Thursday night), my grandpa passed away. He was a big part in my life, so I have had a rough weekend. But anyways, Saturday was 2 big conference games in Kentucky at Midway. IUE volleyball showed up! We won both matches! We are now 6-0 in conference. We play at home this Saturday, November 7th. We play Berea College at 10 am, then IU Southeast at 2 pm. We will be playing at Richmond High School by the way!
This past monday we had a roadtrip to Huntington University. We have played them twice before already this season. We came in kind of slow during the first game, which was not good. But we stepped it up after we lost the first match, and came out and won the next 3. This was a good win for us in their gym. We have had a 4 game winning streak right now (knock on wood! ) haha…We are ready to play on Saturday!!! Hope to see everyone there to support us! If or when we win these games Saturday, we will be setting a record EVER here at IU East–winning conference! So come cheer us on and watch us be the first to do it!
