Mannnn….

December 5th, 2008

This just in:  my kick game is official, like a referee with a whistle.

But anyway…Most of you who read the Howler know that I wrote an article about the Exam Jam.  Man…I went to it and NONE of my classes have appointments!!!! None of them!  Not a single class I’m taking has one session, so I guess I have to rely on my good study habits to make this work.  My grades are good though, so I not really hurting for a great exam to boost me up.  There’s nothing else really going on right now that is new.  Everything is pretty much on cruise control….but I guess sometimes No News is Good news.

I’ll get at yall later

Even the Best Mess Up…

November 18th, 2008

Well….Ladies and gentleman….I had a great opportunity to have a great blog for you all.  We went on a basketball trip to kentucky for 3 days and I took my camera….but when I pulled it out, it was dead!  I was so furious when I saw that I needed a new battery or the charger.  Of course I didnt bring the charger though.

I had a good time out there though.  There were 4 guys teams and 4 girls teams.  We ended up going 3-0 that weekend and basically winning the tournament.  The host team lost all three games that weekend!  How bad would that be.

Well…we have a couple tough games coming up on the road and Ill make sure my camera is fully charged and take plenty of great photos.

Holla!

Season’s Greetings!

November 6th, 2008

Finally the season has started!  The wait has been entirely too long, at least for me.  The first game of the season was exactly what I expected it to be.  But I was happily surprised about the crowd size.  There was a great crowd out to cheer us on.  We ended up beating PNC by 25.  I know a couple of the guys that play for PNC so that was a game that I really wanted to win.  Because I really dont want to hear those guys mouths if we would have lost.

The next game we played against Goshen we took a loss.  But i think even though we lost kinda ugly, we’ll get alot better so there will be alot to look forward to this season.

No One on the Campus Has Swagger Like Us!

Seriously, The Basketball Team holds it down for IU East.  No disrespect to the other sports and organizations on campus.  Because some of those may be just as important if not more important than us.  But when it comes to representing the University….we’re second to none.  I think we should teach a Class or something, straight up.

Lately, We had a Team BBQ at Chester Heights.  That was really good.  Its nice to get all the guys together and have some laughs and enjoy some good food.  Oh yea, if any body wanna battle us on the cooking side, we can go at it that way too.  We have some Chefs on the squad too!!  Y’all don’t wanna see us.  Here are a few photos from the get together:

I have a few more photos….I’ll post them if you guys want me to.  But as you can see some of the volleyball players even stopped by too.  Our chemistry is contagious, everybody wants some of it! (haha)

On another note the basketball season is creeping up on us.  PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! come out to the games and support us!  For real, we’re going to be an exciting team to watch.  I know I’m going to do my thing along wit the rest of us.  So make sure you come out and catch a game or two.

If you haven’t noticed the Post (taller) players on the team sometimes have certain shirts they wear.  Like for instance the Superman shirt you see me sporting at the top of the page.  We play a every-man-for-himself game called Man Game.  So if you win, you’re Superman.  Which is me every time…because I’m such an Ox down low.  And the loser has to wear a pink shirt that says “My Boyfriend is Cuter than Yours”  I will never, EVER, wear that shirt.  Haha I will make certain of that.

Sorry for the delay before this post,  I will make an effort to keep these for frequent.  So look out for the Next one!

September: An IU East Medley

September 29th, 2008

Well, September is almost over and a lot has been going on.  The volleyball season is underway and we (the basketball team) has been live and in full effect at all the home games.  We’re basically the whole student cheering section, because some of the young people think they are too cool to cheer.  But it’s all good, we hold it down.  We started a new tradition at all the games, when we score a point we yell, “Yea! Take that!.”  It frustrates the opposing team and it makes us cheer even louder.  Wilmington College was the first inaugural team to get the brunt of our cheering.  Also, I am going to be doing the P.A. for all the home volleyball games…so you can catch me on the Mic doing my thing like I always do (haha).

Between classes and jut hanging out, other than Chester Heights, a place where all of us basketball players will be hanging out is in the Graf.  I really enjoy hanging out with the guys in such a relaxed environment, it’s nice.  The music they play in there is also pretty good too, its a nice mix, so no one can really complain of the musical selection.  We usually play pool or ping pong, although I never play ping pong because I’m terrible.  Coming from 2 other schools where the basketball teams weren’t as close, its nice to see how good our team gets along and hangs out together.  We go out to eat together, go shopping, and also watch movies together.  Hopefully all of this team chemistry off the court translates onto it and equals a winning and very productive basketball season.

I do not remember the exact date, but we had a musical guest in the Graf.  She sounded pretty good.  I wasnt able to stay for the whole time because my classes wouldnt permit, but from what I heard she was pretty talented.

On another subject, my guy Steve-O and I met with a Amy, our “dietician” to change our eating habits.  She put us on a strict Protein diet and it cuts out all fried food and red meat basically.  It also helps me get the vegetables I need, that I usually wouldn’t eat.  We both have stuck to it for a little over a month now and have both lost about 10 pounds a piece.  What we usually eat is: Baked/Grilled Chicken or Fish, brown rice, and green beans/ brocoli.  Here’s a taste of what our dinner usually looks like:

Looks good don’t it!  Yea I know.  Well I promise I wont keep you all waiting so long next time.  I had been really busy this last week and a half with exams and such.  So I made up for it with a nice big post for all my fans (haha).  Just Kidding, but I’ll Catch ya’ll around Campus.

Peace.

Volleyball Home Opener

September 15th, 2008

Well well well…The volleyball home opener needed an announcer and guess who was chosen?  Yeap…..I was!  I was a little nervous at first, but I got over it, because nothing could’ve went wrong really.  So yea I got a front row seat to the lady red wolves in action.  Seeing the crowd turn-out was really encouraging to me because I hope we have a good crowd like they did.  The crowd size was great, I can’t wait until our season starts!

One thing I did notice about our volleyball team is that we have some good outside hitters.  Marian was just a little too much for us.  I knew Marian was good, I hung out up at Marian all summer since it is like 15 minutes from my house in Indianapolis.  So I pretty much know all those girls.  One of the girls on the team worked out with me and the football team over the summer, so I knew she was gonna be a beast out there and she was.  We ended up losing but Im sure the team will turn it around and end up with a good season.

Tonight, after basketball workouts there is a movie tonight outside in the Quad.  We (basketball team) have to go, I want to see “Wanted” so Im not really complaining.  Im just gonna make sure I wear some long sleeves or something.

Im sad to see the warm weather go, but all that means is basketball season is approaching!!!!!!

Holla!!!

Block Party!!

September 5th, 2008

Well…The Block Party was a lot of fun.  Even though it was so hot my sweat needed a drink.  I met a lot of people that I didn’t even know attended Indiana University East and had a good time.  There was a lot of things to do there.  I also got a great book from one of the booths, It is a biblical quotations book.  I’ll definitely be using that.

One thing that made me laugh was the freshmen on the basketball team were so amped up because I had the record in the free-throw shooting contest.  They all teamed up to try and beat my score, they stayed there for like 25 minutes!  Oh well…when you’re at the top someone is always coming for ya(ha ha).  The ice cream and food was very good also and It was a good time for fellowship amongst the fellow Red Wolves.  All in all it was a good time,  I only hope we can get a similar turn out for our games this upcoming season.  In my Econ class a lot of the students said they like basketball, so Jacobe (one of my teammates) and I stressed that since they all like to watch and not really play they should all come out to Richmond high school and check us out this season.

I’ll be looking forward to more school events because I really enjoyed that one so I will definitely be at the next one.

P.S. If anyone sees the basketball players around the campus looking a little rough, it is on purpose….We decided not to shave until conditioning is over! (ha ha)  We’ll see how long it lasts though.

One Week Down…

August 29th, 2008

Well, the first week of school is over with and now I’m getting settled into a normal routine.  The first week was nice, not having much work (haha) and just sitting in class.  Sometimes for not even a very long time at all.  Even though most of the books are very expensive most of the teachers help yuo find the books online for a lot cheaper, which is great.  I found a couple of my books on line for almost a third of the price!

One place at the school I really like is the student lounge.  I have met a lot of people just sitting around in there.  The guys on the team and I are always in there kicking it between classes and playing pool.  Also the coffee shop in there is pretty good also, I always get the big cookies.  The prices are reasonable too so its all good.  Theres a group of guys that are always in there playing ping pong too…Its pretty interesting to watch because they really get into it.

Sometime next week there is going to be a block party with food and games so that should be fun.  Ill be looking forward to that.

Settling In…

August 24th, 2008

null

Alright, the school year is underway and so is basketball practice.  I really enjoy hanging with all the guys and with all of us at Chester Heights together is nice.  With all of us living so close to gether is basically kinda like living in a dorm since your college buddies are right next door.  The apartments are nice and close to the school too so thats good.  Im anxious to see how the classes go this first week.

Coming to school a week early was an excellent idea because i was able to settle in and get used to the area before the hustle abd bustle of the school year.  All the stores you need are basically close range to the apartments with the exception of the mall and wal-mart, please dont try to walk there(ha ha).

Another good thing about the apartments is that the pool is in a good place, its not too far from any of the apartments.  After basketball or just workin out, the pool is heaven!  Man, just relaxing or acting silly with the guys out there, its another great hangout spot.  The pool is actually deeper than i thought!  When i first pulled up I thought it was another small pool that only went to about 5 feet, but to my surprise it was 9 feet deep.  Which is great.

On another note, at school i had a dilemma with my financial aid, and the school staff has been really helpful, everyone is very approachable and will do whatever they can to help you.  That has been great for me, because I am new to this whole area, so that has been a godsend.
