Parking is no longer automatically assessed to students' accounts, as it had been in the past. It is now the students' responsibility to choose parking at the time of registration. For those who are old pros at registering via the Student Self-Service Registration module in One.IU, you will notice a new, intervening, page that calls for you to make a choice regarding the assessment of a "parking fee."
IU East students, who park vehicles on campus (Richmond , Connersville , and New Castle lots), must purchase a parking permit. Since not all students park vehicles on campus, this new page has been added to the registration process to allow each student to self-assess his or her parking fee. If you do not select the parking option and you then park a vehicle in any of the campus lots, you take the chance of receiving a parking ticket and fine from the Campus Police. Please note that parking fines increase with each occurrence. As part of the online self-service registration process, you will be prompted to accept or decline the parking fee. You must SAVE the page after you select parking in order for the charge to appear on your account.
Students who select parking (as part of the registration process) will have their parking permit mailed to them. Students who do NOT select the parking option, but later determine that they want a parking permit, need to go the Office of Student Accounts (Bursar) to pay the appropriate parking fee. Should you have any questions regarding this change in parking fee assessment, please contact the Office of Student Accounts at 765-973-8345.
