Businesses, governments, and non-profit organizations all rely on computers and on the Information Technology (IT) professionals who make computers work. Computer Information Systems (CIS) graduates help select, install, maintain, and upgrade enterprise computer systems. The CIS program combines business courses with programming and database courses, along with project and systems analysis courses, to give students an understanding of what technology works best in various business situations. Since graduates have taken courses in all areas of business (marketing, finance, accounting, operations, human resources, etc.) as well as information systems, they are well suited to interact with other professionals in a large organization, or to work in small businesses where IT professionals also fill other roles.
The Computer Information Systems program at IU East can be completed either on campus or online.
