Academic Organizations
Association of Nursing Students
Serves those individuals interested in pursuing a career in the nursing profession. Advisor: Diana Stanforth.
Criminal Justice Club
Created with the express purposes of increasing the awareness of the student body in the institutions of Criminal Justice, Political, Public and Environmental Affairs. Advisor: Robert Ramsey.
History/Political Science Club
Promote an interest in history as well as political science; provide additional opportunities for IU East students to further explore these subjects. Advisor: Joanne Passet, Advisor: Paul Kriese.
Honors Club
Promotes cultural well-roundedness and citizenship within the Honors community at IU East; to facilitate fellowship among honors program members through extra curricular opportunities that are intellectually and culturally engaging. Advisor: Joanne Passet.
Humanities Club
Convenes students of any major who have an interest in the arts for monthly on-campus meetings and special events like poetry readings and attending local theaters and symphonic concerts. Future plans include visiting museums and jazz clubs. Advisor: Alysa Clapp-Itnyre.
IU East Student Education Association
To interest capable young men and women in education as a lifelong career; develop among students preparing to be teachers an understanding of the teaching profession; provide these preservice teachers with practical experiences involving both schools and society; present preservice teachers with the history, organization policies, ethics and programs of the profession and the professional teaching associations. Advisor: Brenda Buckner.
Math Club
Provides an environment for students and faculty to discuss mathematics. The club meets weekly to have fun working problems, and using logic to reason equations. The group takes trips to museums and institutions, and provides a medium for the mathematical community at IU East to collaborate with the larger mathematical community of Indiana and Western Ohio. Advisor: Roberta Roswell.
Psychology Club
Provides opportunities for members to be exposed to the latest scientific knowledge of psychology, meet other students involved in the study of psychology, make known research opportunities and share information about career development in psychology. Advisor: Kathleen Felton.
Sociology Club
Provides a forum in which members may participate in informative, academic exchange through discussion of interests and experiences in a sociological context. Advisor: Denise Bullock.
Student Association for Learning Communities (SALC)
Promotes and supports the Learning in Communities (LINC) program at IU East. SALC will build fellowship among past and present LINC participants by providing peer to peer mentoring. Advisor: Lee Ann Adams.
Student Social Work Association
Serves students in the fields of Human Services and Social Work. Active membership promotes both the needs and requirements of Social Work majors, participation in the evaluation of policies and programs, when appropriate, and fosters referral and application of its members. Writer’s Club
Provides a format in which writers in all areas will be able to gain feedback and insight, be able to share their work with others, and attend creative functions to further expand their minds. In addition, it is also the purpose of the Writer’s Club to edit and publish the annual journal, "Tributaries". Advisor: Beth Slattery.

Student Activity Advisory Team (SAAT)
Student Activity Advisory Team (SAAT)
The Student Activity Advisory Team is a student organization funded through Student Activity Fees. Their purpose is to advise and assist with planning and presenting entertainment and programs primarily for the student body of IU East. Known for the comedians, hypnotists, social events and movies shown on campus... their events are open to all IU East students and are FREE! Student Government Association
Represents the student body on various campus committees, including the IU Board of Trustees. These representatives serve as advocates and resources for students and provide an avenue of communication between the students and the faculty/administrators on the IU East campus. Student Newspaper
The "Howler", serves as an information resource on topics pertaining to the academic establishment and serves as an arena for the expression for viewpoints. Contact Hali Cartee.
Fellowship and Spiritual Group
Campus Christian Fellowship
Serves Christ and the campus by: Lifting up Christ as the source of eternal life. (John 14:6). Encouraging campus members to mature in their personal relationship with Christ. (COL 1:10-12). Supporting the campus community in prayer. (EPH 6:18). Advisor: Brian Alenskis.
Honoraries
Alpha Phi Sigma
Recognizes academic excellence demonstrated by students of Criminal Justice and promotes service, critical thinking, rigorous scholarship and elevates the ethical standards of the Criminal Justice profession. Advisor: Robert Ramsey.
Chi Alpha Epsilon
Recognizes the academic achievements of students admitted to colleges through non-traditional criteria. The purposes are to promote continued high academic standards, to foster increased communication among its members and to honor academic excellence achieved by those students admitted to college via developmental programs. Programs sponsored by the society encourage other students toward this accomplishment. Advisor: Candace Richardson
Delta Mu Delta
A national honor society in the field of Business Administration that promotes higher scholarship in training for business and recognizes and rewards business administration students who have distinguished themselves scholastically. Advisor: David Frantz. [ Delta Mu Delta information ]
Psi Chi
Encourages, stimulates and maintains excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. Advisor: Susan Shapiro.
Special Interest Groups
Danielson Center Student Council (New Castle)
Increases the interaction between students and faculty, enhances the college and overall student experience and encourages activities which enhance and strengthen the relationship between the Danielson Center and the surrounding communities. Advisor: Crystal Lewellen.
Environmental Club
To interest men and women in joining with others who share a common interest in environmental issues and to promote awareness of environmental issues on campus, in the community and nationwide. Advisor: Peggy Branstrator.
Life Sciences Pre-Professionals Association
Increase student awareness about professional opportunities and to prepare students for further education. Advisor: Dale Beach
Media Club
To promote interest in the media arts, specifically TV production, among undergraduate students on the IU East campus. Advisor: John Dalton.
Multicultural Affairs Organization
Raises the campus’ awareness of multicultural based issues, increases minority involvement and retention at IU East and increases minority participation in activities. Advisor: Tim Williams.
National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI)
Dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these diseases. Advisor: Kathleen Felton.
The Plastic Organization Art Club
Gathers students and alumni, who have participated in Indiana University East art classes and events, to further enhance their creative education. Advisor: Melissa Modesitt, Advisor: Simon Clopper.
Rainbow Alliance
Provides a forum which enhances the self-esteem, self-awareness, and overall well-being of gay, lesbian, and bisexual student population of IU East, as well as educating the campus community about the needs and concerns of people with varying sexual orientations. Advisor: Traci Taylor.
Student Alumni Association
Promotes the interests of and understanding between Indiana University students of yesterday, today and tomorrow; provides programs and services for students and alumni in joint efforts with the IU East Office of Alumni Relations; assists the Office of Admissions with new student orientations on and off-campus; strengthens and adds to the educational experience of current students who will become effective alumni leaders. Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)
Promotes advocacy among college students in an effort to join together against the tobacco industry. Advisor: Kim DeSantis
21st Century Scholars Club
Helps mentor 21st Century Scholars who are current freshmen and sophomore students at IU East as well as outreach to junior and senior high school students to help them prepare for and succeed with the entrance to college and beyond. Advisor: Tim Williams.
Women's Studies Organization
To provide social, cultural, recreational and educational opportunities for students and the community concerning women's issues. Advisor: Joanne Passet.
World Languages and Cultures Club
Promote the understanding, study and appreciation of the world languages and cultures; promote fellowship and group effort among those interested in world cultures and languages; provide the opportunity for members to participate in cultural events; give members a relaxed environment in which to practice speaking world languages; incorporate languages, histories and cultures not taught on campus; organize activities with local schools, teachers and students to foster interest in world languages and cultures. Dance
The Indiana University East Dance Team promotes interest and cultivates spirit among students, faculty and staff of the university, as well as members of the community. The dance team performs at every home basketball game and other campus and community events upon request. Students of Indiana University East and Purdue programs are encouraged to join and showcase their talent.
