Advising
Seeking out an Education Advisor is a critical and required component for successful completion of any IUE School of Education Teacher Preparation Program.
Who is My Advisor?
All new School of Education students are assigned to Dr. Brenda Buckner for their first 24 credit hours (6-8 classes). Please plan to meet with Dr. Buckner early in your program to plan your schedule. Early registration is often the key to getting into the classes you need to take during the next semester.
Once students have completed their first 24 credit hours, they will be assigned a permanent School of Education faculty advisor who will work to individualize their programs as needs arise.
What courses do I need to take?
This depends on which degree track you are following:
- Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (English Concentration)
- Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Mathematics Concentration)
- Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Science Concentration)
- Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Social Studies Concentration)
- Masters of Science in Education
