Secondary Education Unit Assessment System Benchmarks

Benchmark one: Acceptance into Secondary Intern Program
Timeframe: Before starting summer

• 75% of gen ed courses completed with a GPA of at least 2.5 in each area
• 75% of content courses completed with a GPA of at least 2.7. No grade lower than C.
• Content faculty recommendation
• Completed student teaching application form and DFE interview

Benchmark two: Acceptance into our Teacher Education Program
Timeframe: Before starting fall internship

• Take and pass Praxis 1exam
• Take Praxis 2 exam
• Writing Sample on professional dispositions/professional growth plans
• Progress Interview
• Overall GPA of 2.7

Benchmark three: Acceptance into the Internship Semester
Timeframe: Before starting spring student teaching

• 3.0 average GPA in methods classes
• Satisfactory completion of M401
• Impact on student learning document (TPAS)

Benchmark four: Graduation
Timeframe: Before graduation

• Portfolio
• Satisfactory completion of capstone and student teaching

Benchmark five: Licensure
Timeframe: Before state will license a teacher

• Pass Praxis II exam
