Student Teaching

Student teaching is an apprenticeship designed to assist candidates in making the transition from a student-of-teaching to that of an effective classroom teacher. This field experience facilitates the integration of theory, content and pedagogical knowledge, skills, and dispositions into a repertoire that is sufficient for beginning teaching. The individual student teacher's unique talents are developed in an authentic classroom setting through the unified efforts of the university faculty and public school teachers and administrators. All I.U. East student teachers complete 12 weeks.
