Thinking about Distance Learning at IU East?
Before you enroll in a distance learning degree program, go to the FAQ page to take the Distance Learning Readiness Survey. Also read "How to be a Successful Distance Education Student" and "Myths about Taking Courses Online".
You must first apply for admission and be accepted by IU East before registering for classes. Click the Apply button or contact the IUEverywhere Office at complete@iue.edu or phone 1-800-959-EAST ext. 300. A program coordinator will guide you through the admission process.
Once admitted, you may create your own email account and network ID at itaccounts.iu.edu. Contact Information Technology Help Desk at iueitsup@indiana.edu or phone 765-973-8375, 800-696-EAST ext. 375 for assistance. Your IU email account is the official communication channel between you and IU East. Check your IU email account regularly.
You will be assigned an academic advisor. Set up an appointment with your advisor. Your advisor will work with you to formulate a study plan. A "Welcome Package for Distance Learning Students" will be mailed to you. Review all information in the package.
After you finalized your study plan, you may register classes using Student Information Systems (SIS) via IU's campus portal OneStart. Note that you must have a current Indiana University network account to access OneStart.
IU East uses a course management system for all distance education courses. If you are registered, go to OnCourse for a tutorial. Throughout the year, you may check your grades and financial aids using Student Information Systems via OneStart.
Visit the Technical Requirements page and make sure that you have the right equipment and software. You must have an Internet connection to access the courses.
Order your textbooks online through the IU East Bookstore.
Check the academic calendar. Be ready to sign into your class on the first day of the school.
