How to be King or Queen

Want to be Homecoming King or Queen?

  1. Nominations: Have all your friends nominate you. The 6 females and 6 males with the most unique nominations will move on to the next round. Nomination open: October 19th – 28th. The 6 females and 6 males with the most unique nominations will be contacted after the nomination period ends. Pictures and bio information for all 12 candidates will then be collected posted on the Homecoming website (www.iue.edu/homecoming).
  2. Voting for Court: Students, staff, and faculty can vote for one King candidate and one Queen candidate.
  3. Court Introduced: The 3 Queen candidates and 3 King candidates who receive the most votes will be announced and given Homecoming Court sashes. All 12 court candidates must be present at the Homecoming dance on November 12th.
    King and Queen selection: Interviews with the Homecoming Court will be conducted during Homecoming week. The Selection Committee will select the King and Queen based upon the interview and also take into consideration the number of votes.
  4. King and Queen Crowning: The 2012 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the men’s basketball game on November 18th. All 12 Queen and King candidates must attend the men’s basketball game.
Other Homecoming events that the Court are asked to attend:
  • Monday Madness on November 14th, 1:30-4:30 p.m. in the Graf
  • Nearly Naked Mile on November 16th , 5 p.m. on Graf patio
  • Bonfire on November 17th , 7:30 p.m. behind Hayes Hall
Required Attendance:
  • Homecoming Dance on November 12th , 9 p.m. in Graf
  • Men’s Basketball game on November 18th, 7 p.m. at Tiernan Center
