Online Programs, Course Assistants

Indiana University East is seeking to hire course assistants to work with full and part-time faculty in online courses/programs. These positions are part-time and subject to weekly hour limits.

Duties:  Assist full and part-time faculty in online courses/programs by completing tasks that can include: 

  • Answer student questions about the course

  • Provide student technical assistance

  • Help students network with campus offices/services (Library, IT, Writing/Math Center, etc.)

  • Grade basic student assignments (i.e. forum posts/responses)

  • Network student performance to appropriate campus offices (retention)

Characteristics of a successful candidate include:

  • Excellent customer service skills in organization, communication, and demeanor

  • Efficiency and timeliness in response to faculty and students

  • In-depth knowledge regarding technology, higher education, copyright law and FERPA regulations

  • Skillful record keeping and following through on existing issues


Bachelor's Degree or higher is required.  Candidates with online course experience (teacher or student) are preferred.

Selection:  Upon review, qualified candidates will be asked to participate in an interview process that includes a 30 minute phone interview and an online self-paced training course.   Candidates who successfully complete training will be contacted for hire based on program needs and enrollment.
