Indiana University East Interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar has appointed Rob Zinkan to fill a newly created position as the executive director for External Affairs and Marketing. Zinkan joined the Richmond campus October 1.

Prior to his appointment at IU East, Zinkan was the assistant dean for Advancement at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) in Columbus, Ind. He previously served that campus as the director of gift development and alumni relations. During his five years in Columbus, IUPUC experienced unprecedented success, including significant enrollment growth and record levels of private support.

“We are delighted to have Rob with us,” said Paydar. “He has a proven record providing leadership in external affairs and meaningfully engaging a broad range of constituents in the growth and success of the university. He will be a tremendous asset to our senior management team.”

Zinkan is a part of the Chancellor’s Cabinet and oversees the Office of Communications and Marketing. His areas of responsibilities also include campus events, the Board of Advisors, Area 9 Agency and WCTV.

Zinkan, a native of Richmond, Ind. and a Richmond High School alumnus, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College and a Master of Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He lives in Richmond with his wife, Mary, and three children.
