IU East to hire 13 full-time faculty for fall 2008

In a major move forward for Indiana University East, the university has begun one of its largest searches with plans to hire 13 faculty members for fall 2008. This group of recruits will join 84 full-time faculty who excel in teaching and scholarly activity.

Executive Director for External Affairs and Marketing appointed at IU East

Indiana University East Interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar has appointed Rob Zinkan to fill a newly created position as the executive director for External Affairs and Marketing. Zinkan joined the Richmond campus October 1.

Dean of Nursing receives fellowship to Mid-America Public Health Leadership Institute

Karen Clark, dean of Nursing at Indiana University East, has been named as a fellow for the Mid-America Public Health Leadership Institute. This fellowship is designed to promote organizational, professional and personal leadership skill development. MARPHLI fellows develop greater effectiveness in carrying out the core public health functions of assessment, policy development and assurance not only within their agencies, but also throughout the wider public health system in their community. This year-long institute also focuses on addressing cutting edge public health issues.

Two IU East philanthropists receive IU Foundation Awards

The Indiana University Foundation honored Rob Quigg of Richmond and Danny Danielson of New Castle with two prestigious awards recognizing their dedication to the university. Quigg and Danielson accepted the awards during the Partners in Philanthropy Celebration Dinner at the IU Auditorium on October 18 in Bloomington.

Children’s costume contest, games part of annual IU East Fall Family Festival

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

The community is invited to attend the annual Indiana University East Fall Family Festival from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 26 in Whitewater Hall lobby.

Families can enjoy an evening with games, face painting, children’s costume contest, and candy. Joe’s Pizza will be open in the Campus Café to purchase pizza and drinks.

IntoSalsa: Lively Arts Series continues with salsa dancing

A night of salsa dancing will be the next featured 2007-2008 Lively Arts Series event at Indiana University East. IntoSalsa, Latin Dance Troupe will lead audience participants in salsa dances on Monday, October 29 at 7 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium.

International performance, multi-media artist to visit IU East

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Indiana University East will host a special presentation by internationally known Australian performance and multi-media artist Stelarc. Stelarc will give a presentation on Thursday, October 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium. The artist is traveling to five IU campuses around the state through the support of Indiana University Exhibitions (IUEX).

IU East joins Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

Indiana University East is now a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). The announcement today comes days after IU East was accepted to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). IU East became an official NAIA member on Monday, October 1. Joining the KIAC is the final step in IU East’s process to launch intercollegiate athletics.
