IU East to change mascot name; nominations encouraged

Indiana University East is on the search for a new mascot.

Interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar accepted a recommendation last week from a steering committee of students, faculty, staff, and alumni to change the mascot name from the Pioneers.

IU East gives out $2.6 million in scholarships to high school guidance counselors

Indiana University East distributed $2.6 million in scholarships today to area high school guidance counselors from Indiana and Ohio during its annual Counselors’ Breakfast held Wednesday, November 7.

“We are collaborating with high school counselors to increase the level of attainment in the communities we serve together,” said interim Chancellor Nasser Paydar. “By providing counselors with this tool, we are investing in the future of individual students and our region.”

IU East announces Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition Winners

Indiana University East announced the winners of the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition Wednesday, October 31 during a reception for the artists. David Russick, former director/curator of the Herron Galleries at the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI and currently works for the Indianapolis Museum of Art, publicly juried the competition held on October 6 at IU East.
The competition accepts entries from artists throughout a 300-mile radius around Richmond.
Accepted entries will be on exhibit in Whitewater Hall now until December 21 in The Gallery at IU East. For more information on the show, please call Ed Thornburg, curator, at (765) 973-8605.

New York Times Best Selling author to visit IU East

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Jeannette Walls, author of The Glass Castle, will visit Indiana University East on Wednesday, November 28. The public is welcome to attend a free reading at 7 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall.
