Eastern Indiana College Fair to be held September 24

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Indiana University East will host the Eastern Indiana College Fair on September 24 in Whitewater Hall. 

The College Fair is free and open to the community as well as students and alumni.  The event will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. The campus is located off Chester Boulevard in Richmond, Ind. A financial aid presentation will be held at 6 p.m.

IU East’s writing competition to start accepting entries

Indiana University East is inviting high school seniors to submit their work for the second annual writing contest “Ink the Sheets.” The contest is sponsored by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Office of Academic Affairs.

English professor receives creative fellowship

Jean Harper, assistant professor of English, has received the Goldfarb Family Fellowship for Non-Fiction Writers from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, located in Mt. San Angelo, Va. The fellowship was established by former board member Ronald Goldfarb, an author and literary agent.

Artists welcome to submit WVAAC entries

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Indiana University East will accept art entries beginning Monday, September 22 for the 30th Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition.

The competition will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 in Whitewater Hall. The top ten entries will receive a monetary award.

WVAAC announces juror for 30th competition anniversary

The 30th Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition will be juried by James Yood, an adjunct full professor in contemporary art history and criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Department of Art History, Theory and Criticism. He is also the director of the New Arts Journalism program.

Four finalists for IU East chancellor position to visit campus

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Indiana University East is well on its way to naming a new chancellor. Finalists for the position will visit the Richmond campus this month to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members. Following those visits, the next step will be for the university search committee that identified the finalists to meet again and make further recommendations to President Michael McRobbie. McRobbie will make the selection subject to approval by the IU Board of Trustees.

IU East enrollment reaches historic high, increases 8.6% for fall

Indiana University East has achieved a record high in total credit hours taught, surpassing the previous mark set in 2003.

The campus has increased the number of credit hours taught by 8.6 percent compared to the same period last year. There are 2,447 students enrolled for the fall semester, representing an increase of 8 percent. Enrollment has grown in all of IU East’s academic schools.
