IU East faculty present at national conferences

Indiana University East faculty present papers at national and international conferences throughout the year, sharing their wealth of knowledge and expertise with several colleagues and students.

School of Nursing
Karen Clark, dean of the School of Nursing, Paulette Humphries, lecturer in nursing, and Diana Stanforth, clinical assistant professor, recently had an article published in the January edition of the Nurse Educator. The article is “Teaching undergraduate nursing research: A collaborative approach.”

Service-learning program connects students with community

The IU East Center for Service-Learning is continuing to grow and establish new relationships with the campus and community.

In the past year, the service-learning program has initiated an on-campus office to engage faculty and students in a higher level of service learning. Ange Cooksey, senior lecturer in English, works with students involved in the program to coordinate orientation, training and resources for faculty and students who want to become involved in service-learning projects. A faculty fellows program has been established to provide learning and retooling opportunities for faculty who would like to engage their students in service-learning.

IU East makes President’s Honor Roll for third straight year

Indiana University East has been named to the 2008 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, its third straight year for the honor by The Corporation for National and Community Service for exemplary service efforts and service to communities.

IU East announces Dean’s List

Indiana University East students who take 12 or more credit hours and complete the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale are named to the Indiana University East Dean’s List. The following is the fall 2008 Dean’s List. The list is sorted by the student’s listed hometown.

IU East to join Hoosiers for Higher Education for Statehouse visit

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Over 75 students, alumni and staff from Indiana University East will attend Indiana University’s 18th annual Hoosiers for Higher Education Statehouse Visit on Tuesday, February 17.  This year Purdue University will join IU as part of Innovation Alliance Day.

IU East is taking its largest group ever to discuss higher education and the campus’ request for a Health and Wellness Center with state senators and representatives. IU has included $17.5 million for construction of the center in its 2009-11 capital appropriations request submitted to the General Assembly this year.

IU East, Ivy Tech partner for elementary education articulation agreement

With the Presidents of Indiana University and Ivy Tech recently signing of a state-wide articulation agreement in elementary education, Indiana University East and Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond have further solidified a relationship that will allow greater opportunities for education students to become teachers.

IU East Alumni Association seeks nominations for Distinguished Alumni Award

The Indiana University East Alumni Association would like to invite members of the community and other interested individuals to submit nominations for the Indiana University East Distinguished Alumni Award.

The IU East Distinguished Alumni Award provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding Indiana University East alumni who have distinguished themselves through personal and professional accomplishments, community service, involvement with the university, and involvement with the Alumni Association.

IU East sets spring enrollment record with 13 percent growth

Indiana University East’s spring enrollment has reached an all-time high this semester. For the second consecutive semester, the campus has experienced substantial overall growth in its enrollment and the largest growth among all IU campuses.

SIFE takes “Build a Rock” program to classrooms

The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization at Indiana University East have developed a “Build-A-Rock” program on entrepreneurship and established a curriculum for high school educators. SIFE has taken the program into classrooms locally and nationwide, teaching young students about entrepreneurship. The organization plans to further the program by taking it internationally to classrooms around the globe.
