Blakefield receives Distinguished Alumnus Award
Mary Blakefield, associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, received her alma matter’s Distinguished Alumnus Award during the college’s commencement ceremony held May 8. Blakefield is a member of the Maysville Community and Technical College Class of 1980.

Chancellor to forgo installation ceremony, to focus on campus beautification

During a time when the resources of both the state and east central Indiana are constrained, Indiana University East Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar has decided to forgo a traditional chancellor installation ceremony. An installation, with its pomp and circumstance, marks the beginning of a new chapter for a campus and can be a long, lavish affair.

IU East to add men’s and women’s tennis; Michael Sherer named head coach

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Indiana University East will add men’s and women’s tennis for the 2009-10 academic year.  Local tennis professional Michael Sherer will be the program’s first head coach.  The Red Wolves will now compete in eight intercollegiate sports.

IU East’s first master’s degrees to be awarded at tonight’s commencement ceremony

Friday, May 15th, 2009

The first master’s degrees will be awarded to graduates during the 38th annual Indiana University East Commencement Ceremony tonight at 6 p.m. The university will have six graduate students receiving their Master of Science in Education degrees at the ceremony. The graduates are currently public school teachers in Richmond, Centerville, Western Wayne and Ohio school districts.

Jerrell Spotwood’s short walk across the stage during Indiana University East’s 38th Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m. will begin with a big first step – all the way from New Jersey.

IU East to collaborate with area businesses for internships, entrepreneurial projects

Indiana University East is initiating a five-year plan to establish greater opportunities for collaboration with area businesses and organizations through the Business Development Opportunities Program. The initiative has been made possible by a $140,000 grant from Lilly Endowment , Inc., which is being matched by IU East.

School of Nursing commencement pinning ceremony

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

The pinning ceremony for Indiana University East nursing graduates begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15. The annual ceremony for nursing students will be held at the Central United Methodist Church, located at 1425 E. Main Street in Richmond.

Leadership series offers professionals skills for difficult times

The Indiana University East School of Business and Economics is offering a three-day leadership capacity-building series on May 20, June 3 and June 17. “Leading in Difficult Times – Coaching, Conflict, and Change” is a series that is focused on dealing with challenges in technological and human resources.

IU East Campus Campaign receives 95 percent participation from faculty, staff

Indiana University East employees have done something unprecedented. Ninety-five percent of faculty and staff made a contribution during the 2009 Campus Campaign, setting a new participation percentage record for the annual faculty/staff fund drive.

Dean of Nursing answers questions on H1N1
