IU East to offer yellow ribbon award for military veterans

Indiana University East will offer the Veterans Administration’s Yellow Ribbon Program this fall to Post- 9/11 veterans. Fall 2009 is the first semester the new Post-9/11 GI Bill goes into effect.  IU East will provide up to 10 qualifying students a direct grant up to $1,500 per academic year under the program and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs will match the amount.

BOSS program receives governor’s proclamation for final competition

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels proclaimed today as BOSS Day. A proclamation by the governor’s office was read during the Entrepreneurship Business Opportunities for Self Starters (BOSS) program competition for high school students. Students presented their business plans in the competition. BOSS is a program in the Center for Entrepreneurship that provides high school students with the opportunity to build business knowledge, apply their research and to strengthen their networking opportunities.

IU East to participate in College Night at the Wayne County Fair

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Join Indiana University East for a night at the Wayne County 4-H Fair from 5 p.m. to close Thursday, June 25 for “KnowHow2Go to College Day.”

IU East will be at the “Kids to College” tent with Indiana’s College Success Coalition, a group working to rally and connect individuals and organizations willing to help more students get to and complete college.

IU East continues in-state tuition with reciprocity agreement

Indiana University East announced today (June 24) that the Tuition Reciprocity Agreement with Ohio institutions of higher education will be renewed.

The agreement means that IU East will continue to offer Ohio students in neighboring counties in-state tuition rates. The renewal of the Tuition Reciprocity Agreement follows the approval of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Ohio Board of Regents and becomes effective July 1, 2009. The reciprocity agreement allows Indiana and Ohio institutions of higher education to expand postsecondary opportunities across the states’ borders while limiting the cost to taxpayers.

IU East and Ivy Tech announce partnership to expand educational opportunities in southeastern Indiana

Indiana University East and Ivy Tech Community College announced today that they have entered into an agreement on programs that will significantly expand educational opportunities in southeast Indiana.

Indiana University East is now offering three bachelor’s degree completion programs for students enrolled at its regional center in Lawrenceburg, Ind. located at Ivy Tech Southeast’s Lawrenceburg Riverfront Campus.  The completion programs are the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

IU East, Ivy Tech Southeast to make announcement

Editors: On Tuesday (June 23), Indiana University East and Ivy Tech Community College Southeast will make a joint announcement at the Lawrenceburg Riverfront Campus. The two schools have reached an agreement that will impact education in the region.

IU East to receive $50,000 match from IU for campus beautification initiative

Indiana University East Chancellor Nasser Paydar received good news during the Celebration of Campus and Community.

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie made a surprise announcement, stating that the university would match contributions to IU East’s campus beautification initiative up to $50,000.

Music program offers students freedom to create

Elliott Miles McKinley is passionate about what he does.

McKinley, an assistant professor of music at Indiana University East, has been instrumental in developing the music major and minor offered at the university since fall 2008. Students can major in music through the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities or minor in music performance, music composition and electronic composition or music theory.

Celebration of Campus and Community planned for Tuesday at IU East

Indiana University East would like to invite the public to the Celebration of Campus and Community planned for Tuesday, June 16 on the Springwood Hall lawn. The celebration is being held on the IU East campus and is replacing a traditional installation ceremony for Chancellor Nasser Paydar.
