Summer Research Scholars to present findings this spring

Indiana University East awarded four scholarships for the 2009 Summer Research Scholar Program. Undergraduate students received $2,000 to conduct a research project under the supervision of a faculty mentor.

Funding for the program is provided by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and is matched by funds from IU East. The competitive program has since expanded from the first award given to include up to six students each summer.

IU East to giveaway t-shirts to RHS students at volleyball match

In response to changes in the Richmond High School dress code, IU East staff will give away logo t-shirts to Richmond High School students at Red Wolves volleyball matches on Saturday, September 26, and Monday, September 28.

IU East establishes preparedness site for H1N1

Indiana University East is continuing to post updated information and recommendations on the H1N1 flu virus. The university has established an H1N1 Preparedness Web site at www.iue.edu/H1N1 with campus specific information, tips for prevention, symptoms, and frequently asked questions. Faculty, staff, students and their parents, as well as campus visitors, are encouraged to review this information on a continued basis for newly posted information.

IU East introduces new faculty

Indiana University East has several new full-time faculty members on staff this fall. The additional faculty will further enhance the campus’ mission as a comprehensive bachelor’s and master’s degree institution.

“IU East continues to grow and, to accommodate the growth, has added more full-time faculty over the past two years,” says Larry Richards, executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at IU East. “We expect the trend to continue and to add even more full-time faculty positions in the years to come.”

Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition announces juror

The 31st Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition will be held Saturday, October 3, at Indiana University East.

This year’s competition is juried by Corin Hewitt who holds a B.A. from Oberlin College and an M.F.A. from The Milton-Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. He also attended the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunste Karlsruhe in Germany and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.

Fulbright Scholar returns to IU East with new understanding of Vietnam

IU East sets enrollment record again, ‘remarkable’ growth for fall

In a continued record-setting trend, Indiana University East has increased fall enrollment by nearly 20 percent.  Both enrollment (2,924) and credit hours taken (28,926) for the fall semester reached record highs for the campus.

School of Education sponsors Professional Clothing for Success Store

The Indiana University East School of Education and the Student Education Association are sponsoring a Professional Clothing for Success Store (PCS) for all IU East students. Anyone who would like to share gently used professional clothing and accessories may drop the items off in the Springwood Hall Campus Life Conference Room, located in office suite 107. The drop-off dates and times are Thursday, September 10, between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. or Friday, September 11, between 7:30 a.m. and noon.
