New restaurant opens on campus

Den logo 4A new restaurant opens today at Indiana University East.

The Den is a four-station eatery featuring daily entrée selections, made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, subs, fresh salad bar, soup station, hot and cold grab-and-go items, fountain and bottled beverages, snacks, and desserts. Led by Chef Martina Chomel, director of Food Services, patrons will be able to choose from a variety of healthy, affordable foods.

Partnership lands grant to help enrich RCS history teacher’s curriculum

Richmond and Wayne County, Indiana, is an area rich in history.

Now through a partnership to receive a United States Department of Education grant, Richmond history teachers will be able to research the county’s roots in industrialization, entrepreneurship, social justice and transportation.

IU East offers three-year program in criminal justice

IU East offers three-year program in criminal justice

Students interested in criminal justice can take the fast track to graduation.

Indiana University East is offering a three-year degree program in criminal justice. The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree is offered through the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students majoring in criminal justice can opt to accelerate their education by taking courses on a full-time basis including during the summer months.

NSM faculty collaborate to publish findings for use of phylogenic species identification
School of Natural Science and Mathematics faculty members Markus Pomper, Dale Beach and Mike Foos (emeritus); IU East B.S. in Biology graduate and former laboratory coordinator, Nickie May; and co-authors Don Ruch, from Ball State University, and Kathy Sheehan, from the University of Colorado, received notification that their paper, “Phylogeny of Pilobolaceae,” has been accepted for publication and will appear in an upcoming issue of Mycologia. This paper re-describes a family of fungi and proposes the use of phylogenic species identification to distinguish among isolates of the genus Pilobolus more accurately. This publication represents the culmination of a multi-year collaboration utilizing the laboratory facilities at IU East.

IU East updated its homepage in fall 2009 to prominently feature social networking sites including YouTube videos, campus photos through Flickr, Twitter updates and student blogs. IU East uses the format to encourage visitors to www.iue.edu to connect to the university.
