IU East nursing faculty earn certified nurse educator designations

Indiana University East School of Nursing has six members of its faculty who have earned the designation Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) after meeting strict eligibility criteria and successfully completing a rigorous certification examination developed and administered by the National League for Nursing.

High schools invited to participate in annual IU East Speech Competition

The Indiana University East Annual High School Speech Tournament will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011, in Whitewater Hall. Registration is from 7:20-7:50 a.m. and the tournament will end by 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

THE HOME TEAM: Volleyball to host Freed-Hardeman in Opening Round

The Indiana University East volleyball team will host Freed-Hardeman University at a NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round match.

The match will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center. The Lions are 27-8 and ranked 25th in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll.

Traci Taylor has been an advocate for people with disabilities since her childhood.  She hopes to continue advocating through her participation in a film being released this fall, “The Movement: One Man Joins an Uprising.”

IU East and Richmond High School class form partnership to construct Hollywood Squares game set

A class from Richmond High School gained hands-on construction experience at Indiana University East. Brad Walton’s building construction class partnered with the campus to help build a well-known television game show set for its annual Guidance Counselors’ Breakfast held November 3.

IU East’s Homecoming 2011 begins Saturday with KIAC volleyball tournament

Indiana University East will celebrate “Homecoming 2011: Wild Night” the week of November 12-18. The campus is celebrating its 40th anniversary this fall, and Homecoming features several events that have an early 1970s influence. The theme is based on the song written and released by Van Morrison in 1971 and more recently covered by John Mellancamp.

IU East gives out scholarships during annual Counselors’ Breakfast

Indiana University East distributed scholarships to area high school guidance counselors from Indiana and Ohio during its annual Counselors’ Breakfast held November 3 in Whitewater Hall.

“It is our responsibility to lead the region as the premier baccalaureate and master’s public institution in eastern Indiana and western Ohio,” said Chancellor Nasser Paydar. “It is a pleasure to work with these counselors who share our vision to increase the educational attainment in our region. Together, we are investing in the future of individual students and our communities.”

IU East WVAAC announces Top Eleven, Purchase awards recipients

IU East WVAAC announces Top Eleven, Purchase awards recipients

Indiana University East announced the Top Eleven Award and Purchase Award recipients during the Whitewater Valley Annual Art Competition reception held October 26.

This year’s competition was juried by Katherine Sherwood, a professor at UC Berkeley in the art department and the Disability Studies Program. The competition accepts entries from artists throughout a 300-mile radius around Richmond.
