IU East is developing a new model for productivity with Tides Center grant

Indiana University East is using a grant from the Tides Center to develop “A New Model for Productivity at Traditional Four-Year Institutions.” The Lumina Foundation is providing the funding.

“IU East has earned national and statewide recognition for a model of higher education that is productive, efficient and still of high quality,” said Larry Richards, IU East Interim Chancellor. “The $385,945 grant will provide support to develop further our model for productivity. The model has garnered interest from four-year institutions around the country and, by developing the model, other institutions may be able to adapt it for their own use.”

IU East community mourns the passing of first director Frederick Grohsmeyer

The Indiana University East community today mourns the loss of Frederick A. Grohsmeyer, the university’s first director from 1971-1975. Previously, Grohsmeyer was the director of the Eastern Indiana Center of Earlham College 1969 to 1971.

IU East continues summer enrollment increase during second session

The enrollment increase at Indiana University East has continued over the summer. The second summer session has increased 11.8 percent (888) in student headcount and 12.9 percent (3,711) in credit hours compared to this same time last year.

The Becky Melton Scholarship established in honor of the spirit of giving

In the spirit of giving, the Becky Melton Scholarship has been established at Indiana University East by donors in honor of Melton’s selfless act to donate a kidney to Jerry Wilde, professor of education.

Gifts to the scholarship have generated enough funds to endow the scholarship. To date, IU East has received $13,700 through direct donations and a celebration hosted by Jerry and his wife, Polly Wilde.
